why don't people mind there own flammin business!

ooo oo oo ive had an idea, how about a section for breastfeeders and a section for bottle?

I dunno then we could rant and rave on our own section without upsetting anyone. I was really not trying to, I was just reaching out to other breasfeeding mums thats all :(

Breastfeeding is extremely hard, especially at the beginning and I don't think many people realise the hard work and dedication that goes into it. There is not enough support to help new mums which is why so many give up, we need more education and more support. Also, it is hard to get your baps out in public, you worry if baby is getting enough, if baby is latching on properly, if your milk has dried up or not, if you are doing it properly, having to do it when your boobs are really sore. The support groups are there so mums can enourage, advise and help other breastfeeding mums.

I wish I could find one, not even the HV knows of any as the last one closed down just before I had Olivia, not enough women went.

no i don't think thats a good idea coz its segregating the two when the two can be talked about in harmony. People need to respect peoples choices in feeding thats all and all is well.

lol yes it was only about 4 weeks ago I got them out in public for the first time and in front of friends and family, but I dont care now
I just whip it out faster than you can say jugs and its in her mouth

yes your right, just wish it wasnt seen as something that was against bottle feeders, when it really wasnt :(

yes but that also goes the other way too, people beng more open minded about bottle feeding not just brest, as some people can make pretty hurtfull comments where bottle feeding is concerned as if those who do dont care as much, (not trying to get into an argument but people stating that people have the right to feed how they want is right, but also without people thinking they are superior for breast feeding) how you feed is your own choice!

im sure on one thinks they are superior for breastfeeding their baby steph
maybe proud of themselves yes but not superior. :)

I wasnt stating people on here but yes i do know people who do think that. going back to tashas original comment where people were critising her FOR breastfeeding, well i have had it from day one for chosing not to, yes it was my choice no i dont feel guilty and yes i do admire people who do breastfeed, but also, No i do not think people have the right to make me feel inadequate (and believe me there are people who do) because i chose a different path, it goes both ways but even you ladies who do breastfeed have to admit (and this isnt aimed at yourselves) that ladies who bottlefeed often do get judged!

the sad fact is that people will look down on you no matter what you do. that is what is so great about this forum, that people support and like you no matter how you choose to raise your children.
No-one should judge you for how you are feeding your child, as long as you are feeding them and looking after them properly that is all that matters :D

I think the original point of Tasha's thread is one we can all relate to, breast or bottle feeders.

Nothing makes you as paranoid as being a new mum and being bombarded by (often well-meaning) advice from all quarters.

I spent a long time feeling bad about my method of feeding, and it takes a while to build you confidence and say 'Sod off world, my baby, my way!'

We're all making the same point here, so group hug ladies (and that's mods orders   )

you see ive had it the other end of the scale. i have been looked down at FOR breastffeding .

the amount of peopele who make me feel shitty coz i breast feed. i could write a flaming book!

Me too especialy when I was in a resturant, even had someone turn there nose up and say, yuk I can't believe shes doing that here, how disgusting :(

As for what you have said Minxy, being a first time mum is a challenge in its self, than having the added stress with how to feed and then how your doing it, it the same for everyone

Breast feeding is soooo hard.
I have tried so much since Dan was born. I've been to numerous breastfeeding clinics, advice from my HV, midwife, doctor. I have now just started fenugreek to up my milk. I simply do not have enough for my hungry lil bugger! I pump my breast 8 times a day for the last 10 weeks. They are sore and I am extremely frustrated, but not as much as my son.

BUT I AM DETERMINED! He will be breastfeed!!

I have respect for all you mums. Whatever you feel is best for you and your baby. Neither way is wrong

i agree that no matter what you do someone will always offer their "better" way of doing things, iused to hate it when people used to say oh i think he tired he needs a nap and stuff like that i dont know if its cos he was my first and i was a bit over sensitive and worried i was doing something wrong it still winds me up now and hes nearly one.

as for the breastfeeding thing its an emotive topic i niavely thought it would come easy to me but it never and i gave up after a couple of weeks which was the right decision at the time. its still a sensitive topic and i do find that the tickers and some of the posts can feel like theyre rubbing my nose in it but i think thats because i feel bad for not suceeding and a bit jealous i suppose anyways happy thoughts everyone.

To be honest when I was pregnant the idea of breastfeeding scared the hell out of me!

I was going to bottle feed and that was it, id never seen anyone do it, nor knew much about it, until speaking to OH's mum who was brilliant I must add :D

One reason was, OH used to play with them lol, they were a sexual object to me  and part of our fun  couldnt imagine them being used for feeding.

The first few weeks I was still questioning if I could carry on or not and god how many time I nearly gave up were endless!

Until one day, she looked up into my eyes and gave that windy smile, awww my heart sunk :) and that was it we were hooked :D

im not trying to argue, ive stated my opinion sorry if thats seen as "putting people down for breastfeeding when I have failed"

a few snyde comments back but im above it.
