Who is not going to have the flu jab/swine flu jab?

Not ...i don't think i don't trust it and what i've researched has scared me... why dont you do a poll too hun maybe ask if you think its safe see what everyone thinks xxx

I had it when I was pregnant, and wouldn't have had it any other way, there is no way on earth that the government would be putting pregnant women at risk by giving them the injection x

Not having as I feel it's too close to baby being born and am not happy with the level of information on offer about it. And just because the government say its safe doesn't fill me with confidence, I much prefer to get opinions from people on the sharp end of it all. If I had received the normal flu vaccine in the past I may have felt differently which I am entitled too as I have Asthma. After speaking with OH I have said I wll try this after baby is born but if I have an adverse reaction it will be the 1st and last time.
Also am currently on anti-biotics and stuff for something else so they wouldn't give it to me anyway.

At the end of day it's a personal choice and I do feel that whether someone chooses to have the vaccine or not it is entirely up to them and they shouldn't feel pushed into a decision or be made to feel guilty about that decision.

I am sure either way if something did happen to baby then any mother would be asking did they do the right thing whether they had the vaccine or not so I think there is a bit of a catch 22 situation as it stands anyway.

Yeah I'm having it, people that get that'll are dying. I wouldn't do that to me or my baby. I have asthma too so I usually have these vaccines anyway, but being pregnant gives me all the more reason to get it as there's 2 of us to look after.
The vaccine hasn't done anyone that much harm as far as I'm concerned, and like fm2b says, the government wouldn't put pregnant people at risk anyway. If there was any doubt, ray just simply wouldn't use it! Think how good science is now, they wouldn't put us at risk. X

Also, as against it as I was, once i was fully informed by my doctor and nurse, they were saying it's crazy as the main people they want to have it are pregnant women as we are considered at risk and yet we're the ones they have to convince the most to have it. Its understandable tho as to why we have these reservations because we just want what's best for our little ones but for me, protection from something potentially fatal was a priority for me rather than protection from the unknown effects of the jab. Not an easy conclusion to come to tho I will admit xx

a girl in the next village from me has just had her baby 11 weeks early on 22nd December and she has just died from Swine Flu xx :(

just found out 1 of my neighbours died on wednesday from swine flu :(

Wise words Lexus hun! My boss told me this morning that a woman who used to work with us died from flu at the weekend. She was 6 months pregnant and sadly her baby didn't survive either. I'm totally with Lexus, I was against it at first but now someone who I knew has died and lost her baby there is nothing I won't do to protect my baby's life. However, having been dead against it before I can see what a hard decision it can be.

xx

I'm not having it, went to see nurse about it a couple of weeks ago and she advised that at that late stage of pregnancy it probably wasn't worth it... due in 3 days so haven't got much longer left... i think if I wasn't so far along in my pregnancy when all the hype started, I would have gone.
Although to be honest, I have not been advised by my midwife, gp, hospital or anyone to get the jab, just got in touch with the nurse at my gp surgery off my own back due to the media hype so am a little disappointed with the lack of communication there has been with people the health service say they are so keen to vaccinate!?! Surely if they are so keen for certain people to have the jab, they should have got in touch with them to advise that??

Yes, I was asking my docs that this morning and it's been because of the cuts in budget. So they didn't bother with the advert (catch it, kill it, bin it) this year and now there's been a number of deaths they've got in trouble. But they've also cut costs by not sending out letters to at risk groups and stuff and now I think they're regretting it! I wasn't advised by anyone either.

xx

I usually have the ordinary flu vaccine because i have asthma, but havent been offered either yet by my surgery. I will definately have it if/when im offered it, or i will ask when i go to see my midwife again. Id rather have the jabs than the full blown virus', which i believe would be more detrimental to mine and little mans health.

This is definatly not a decision I am going to be making lightly.
I have been asking my Friends who have had babies and or who are pregnant to see if they had it and what their thoughts are.
I have an appointment with my gp next thursday so will ask him and then i will ask the midwife next friday when I see her.
IF I do go ahead and have it and right now that is a big IF, I would definatly be waiting until way in to the 2nd trimester.

It's the contradictions in information that did my head in when I was trying to come to a decision. One thing that wasn't very clear was if it was OK to have in the first trimester or not? And then, if you were to decide to have it, would you want to wait around for 5 weeks or so?

Saying that, I know there has been a mix of first, second and third trimester mums to be that have had it and gone onto the next trimester or delivery with no issues.

I just hope you come to a decision that you're happy with and have no regrets. You only want to do whats best for your baby at the end of the day xx

When I see things like this, it makes my mind up for me.. People who are ill from the jab usually have under lying conditions. Caroline was a young healthy woman, and just today, my sisters friend has died from swine flu, while my old colleagues sister is critical and not expected to pull through. It's each individuals own choice, but I wouldn't think twice about it..

I can't believe your nurse said that to you :-o I am so shocked, swine flu has killed many that aren't in "high risk groups" she should have offered you it seeing as your eligible because you're pregnant.. xx

I decided to have it.got it yest.want me and the baby to be fully protected and I've heard more about preg women catching swine flu than I have about the jab affecting them! Personal choice tho x

not having it, had it last year and then MC know it might not be linked but not risking it this year, also now it mixed with the normal flu jab it makes it worse cause every time i have had that in the past i have got flu ( am asthmatic so should really have it every year)

I had swine flu last year & I have to say theres no way I would risk getting it or any kind of flu while pregnant. The virus in the shot this year is not live anyway. I had the jab this yr x
