I think Tesco's newborn nappies are lovely - very soft and had no problems using them 2 years ago....
I wouldn't recommend getting lots of one brand/type or size in stock as strangely some nappies suit some babies and some don't and you'd be surprised how quickly you go up a size.

I bought pampers & huggies 
I prefaired huggies with dd1 (now 8)
and pampers with dd2 (now 5))
so i got both to try them both out, so far ive used the pampers newborn and im about to try the huggies newborn lol
although for the first time in past 8days romans nappy leaked during the night that was a pampers nappy. we will see how we go x
