I know everyone is different, but roughly at what stage in a pregnancy do you start to put on weight? I know most people start to show around 12 weeks, but does the women put on weight before that, after that, or at the same time?

I think it's normal to gain a bit of weight in the first trimester, but it would mostly be bloating, water retention, fat stores etc. Even at the end of pg, most of the weight you put on is not baby, you get a lot of extra padding which goes towards breastfeeding, a huge increase in blood volume, etc.

I've started to put weight on already! Bum/boobs/waist!! A lot of the weight is "maternal stores" according to my book which is what your body uses to help with feeding baby.

You also put weight on for increased blood volume, amniotic fluid, etc. so most people start putting weight on from day 1.

I hadnt put any wait on up to my 16 week check, and even now my scales are the same, everyone is different, i felt very nauseous from 3 weeks to 10 weeks so probably lost weight then

I put on all my weight in the first 24 weeks and then didnt put on any from then on. I looked pregnant at 14 weeks!!

I lost weight in first tri (I think it was a combi of morning sickness and stopping drinking!) and started to gain weight about 14 weeks. I didn't start really showing until about 26/27 weeks. So far, I've put on 19lbs but I've still got a couple of weeks for water retention to get me!
