When did your workplace inform you of your maternity payments?

Hi Everyone

I'm having a real battle with my workplace at the moment. All the relevant forms and information was given to them months ago regarding my request for maternity leave. The letter I received from them on 27 July says that once I had submitted the MATB1 form to them they would write to me detailing what my maternity payments would be.

The MATB1 went to the 6 weeks ago and I still haven't heard anything. When I've called them up to ask they just say "We need to do an assessment and then we will get back to you, but they will not give me a timeline for this."

I leave work in 5 weeks so obviously things are starting to get a bit tense IMO. I really need to know what my pay intervals will be so that we can start to make the relevant plans now on how to manage our very reduced income.

Is there a time frame that they should be getting the information to me? What were your ladies' experiences?

I dunno what your employers policy states but when I went off I wasnt told "how" much Id get, I was told by what says in the policy (eg so many weeks full pay, so many weeks half pay.

I had phoned before to the HR wages dept and asked them to tell me what would be going into my account. I got a hold of someone that told me my first 3 months - but when I phoned back after this someone else says theyr not allowed to say that. Not sure if this was because I phoned.

Basically I worked mine out, I got x amount per week from SMP and so many weeks full pay then half.

xxxx

I have this and I finish next week :-)

Their reason is "holiday calculations need to be current". It makes me so nervous I can't tell you!! X (and I work for a big company as well!)

In work public sector so don't know if it makes a difference.
I had to inform them and submit my mat b1 by 25 weeks. This was what they class as my qualifying week. Within a few days they wrote to me with a break down of what my pay was.
I had to give them 2 weeks written notice if I wanted to change my dates.

I was sent mine about 5 weeks after I'd finished work and it was a calculator that anyone can use online - but I work for a small company and my Dr doesn't know his arse from his elbow

Your work place should have a policy available to you so you can see what maternity rights you have. This should detail your leave pay. If it is smp then just go on to the gov website

My work took longer than the Government guidelines, so I popped them a message asking if there was any information they still required from me as the Government set out timeline for how long this should take had now been exceeded. Next day I had an email, day after a letter confirmation with all the info!

I've never received details of the breakdown. My workplace maternity policy states 6 weeks at 9/10ths of my pay then 39 weeks at smp so I used an online calculator to work it out.

same as hoping for me, just got a policy stating what it was but no breakdowns etc. my boss has to inform them when i'm on maternity regarding how much holiday i've got left to be paid

Thanks ladies.

I have the policy and everything it's just the letter they send you when you inform them says they will let you know what your pay intervals will be an how much they will be, that's what I've been waiting for. As it happens I had the letter waiting for me when I got home but it was about as much use as a chocolate teapot! It just breaks down the weekly pay which I had sort of worked out myself but as I get paid monthly I was hoping they would send me the details of what I would get each month.

Anyway I'm going to not stress about it anymore. Hubby says that we will manage and to just concentrate on cooking baby.

Exactly the same for me they don't give me it and I have no idea why ... Just the no of weeks at what pay. Don't understand why they don't just give you the monthly amounts gross (subject to tax and ni deductions which are outside of their control). Strange x

I haven't had a breakdown of how much I'll get by date, just how much I'll get per week. I don't think that's odd considering the constant pay rises and changes going on around the UK at the moment. Plus if they commit to x amount on x date, but then when their accounts do the payroll it is more or the date gets moved etc, it's easier for them to do it as they do everyone else's. I wouldn't expect them to tell me that info until they knew it themselves and they were physically doing each month's payroll.

I don't know exactly how much I'll get. I've just based it on a percentage of my pay after tax & other deductions. Hopefully it will be a little bit more than I have calculated. I'm taking 12 months mat leave (3 months unpaid) then a month holiday. Gotta be careful with my pennies! X

I work in a school and we have our own hr and payroll department but they just give a figure in the letter like 90% at 6 weeks. I worked out the weekly amount then had to add weeks together in the cut off times to get my monthly amount. It was nearly right each month. Only out by about £50 which I didn't think was bad

I've just had my letter through from work, I'm nearly 28 weeks. All it confirmed was that I was going on maternity leave and that it would finish on a certain date (I am asked to provide this at my work) but that this can be changed and I need to give 8 weeks notice before my return.

They then just told me I'd get 100% of pay for so many weeks, then smp for so many weeks and I'd get paid as usual on the normal monthly date.

I have just received my letter from head office confirming my weekly payments and my leave date, they have put it 3 days early so am in two minds whether to bother changing it or not as its just one shift.

Thanks for all your replies ladies. I've got a general idea of how much I will be getting a month and as long as it's enough to cover my portion of the bills that's all that really counts, so I'm not too worried about it all anymore.

Pregnancy, maternity leave etc are no good for controlling personalities like me! :)
