When did you contact your doctor's?

Hi

Nervously poking my nose into Tri-1! When did you contact your GPs to make a "I'm pregnant" appointment & who did you make it with: is it with a nurse or the doctor or a midwife?

I'm a little confused!

i rang the doctor as soon as i got a bfp and the woman on the phone told me the doctor doesnt see anyone til 8 weeks.
maybe thats just my area though! i went to my appointment today and all he really did was give me a number for the midwife to ring and make an appointment with her.
if you work and need a particular time or date to see the midwife, i'd get the number soon as! i dont think they'd tell you off for getting in touch too early!

I have only had a fone conversation with my GP and im seeing the midwife tomorrow for the first time at 10 + 1 (midwife contacted me about a fortnight ago to arrange appt) xx

I saw my GP at 6 weeks and had my booking in appointment the same day with the midwife - there was a cancellation so she fitted me in.

I got my bfp last friday night, saw a doctor on monday 4+5, but wont see a midwife till april (can't book yet as they arn't taking bookings for april yet!).

I'll be contacting the Doctors on Monday just to let them know.
They'll want a sample to confirm pregnancy and will then refer me to MW. No need to see a Doctor here, unless there is a problem. x

yeah I was told to call and make a booking in appointment when i was about 8 weeks. I called at 5 weeks tho! haha

I have a really 'prickly' receptionist at my local GPs who tries to fob everybody off about everything, so sounds like I should wait a couple of weeks first lol

I went a week after bfp. Went in, told him I'm pregnant, he asked which hospital I wanted then said "go to reception for a choose and book form". Got scan 8th march and mw community booking in on 12th x

Saw GP at 9 weeks as was under EPU... He referred me to the midwives and they contacted me at 12 weeks x

I called the doctors for the 'I'm pregnant' call on Wednesday at 4 weeks and 6 days due to my spotting. I've been booked in to see a midwife in mid-March, but got an early scan tomorrow due to spotting

But, yeah I think I sounded a bit daft on the phone when I said I was pregnant as I had no clue what happened next!

All she did tho was take my blood pressure, ask what hospital I'd be going to and sent the referral for the first midwife appt. I got my appt letter about 10 days later. We don't see a midwife til 12 weeks here unless there's a problem so I've ages to wait yet (or so it seems!) First appt and scan is booked for 28th March.

Sounds like our doctors lol I had to con the receptionist into telling me my result even though I already knew it dont think she believed my story but she eventually caved in and gave me it haha xx

My doctors exactly the same i went there he asked me which hospital i wanted to give birth in ( i was shocked as had only just found out) he then refered me to the hospital and now waiting for my letter with scan/midwife date. I would ring as early as possible so things might get moving quicker? Good luck xxx

I went to see GP the day after I found out, (4weeks) he just gave me a prescription for folic acid then told me to make appointment with midwife.

Guess it depends on where you live.

I went to the dr around 6 weeks but I know next time I'll just go straight to the midwife at 8 weeks

I went to the docs the day after I found out (last tuesday) he prescribed folic acid, asked which hospital, then told me to ring midwife. Rang midwife and am going to see her on monday, got a letter from hospital this morning and my appointment is the 13th March xxx

I get a bit confused when folk say the doctor wouldn't see me etc. If you want to register your pregnancy just make an appointment?

I just booked an appointment and saw the doctor face to face and told him (the less interaction with the receptionists the better as far as I'm concerned! Lol).

I went straight away first time round, the second time round I went at about 7 weeks I think.

If you need advice about things or are worried I'd go sooner rather than later x

I'll call a week on Monday..... I need to see GP before the midwife at my practice.

Last two pregnancies I have started to bleed on day I called and made my GP appointment I know it is just coincidence but still....
