I have been looking for a little checklist to make sure I have everything I need packed and ready for me going into hospital, everywhere giving lots of different things.. Name a few things you brought that maybe wasn't looked at? Or something you wish you had in with you? Or any tips or stories you would like to share :D xx

For Me:

3 sets of PJs - i leaked through a pair because i bled heavily
disbosible knickers
socks
nursing bra
slippers
going home clothes - joggers & tshirt
dressing gown - very important for me.. the ward was freezing and its nice and fluffy and smelt of home

extras for me
hot water bottle - my afterpains were really bad
paracetamol - they are so crap at giving you pain releif after you give birth so i took my own
ipod
phone
camera
snacks

for baby:

3 babygrows
3 vets
mittens
hat
jacket
shawl/blanket
nappies
wipes
some people like to have a 'going home outfit' for baby but we just put ours in a babygrow

This is my list from last time:

2 x PJs (one spare in case of leakage after)
1 x Nightie for labour - button front
lightweight dressing gown
MASSIVE knickers!!
2 nursing bras
Pads - breast and sanitary.
Toiletries
Hand and face towels
Socks
Bobbles, hairband and brush
Camera
Coming home clothes - sweats pants etc.
£20

Hebe's Stuff
4 x vests
2 x sleepsuits
1 cellular blanket
Nappies, wipes/cotton wool
2 x hats
2 x muslins
2 x bibs
All in one suit to travel home in
Car Seat.

I found I had everything I needed. The only thing extra I will put in this time is an extra sleepsuit as she was sick over night so she had to be changed. I had plenty of vests but if she'd been sick again I would have needed to get hubby to bring more. I was only in for 12 hours so I didnt bath her or anything. She got washed with water and cotton wool balls. In our hospital the tell you not to use wipes on newborns but I did. I wouldnt have got that meconium off with cotton wool!
If you think you'll come home in 24 hours you'll have enough. If longer you'll need more pyjamas and underwear :)

i started a thread with my list a while back i think! IMO its a good idea to take both newborn and 0-3m in with you, i had a monster baby and the mw just laughed whens he pulled out newborn clothes  my slippers were my saviour, the first thing i did when i arrived at hospital was to get them on, was nice to be comfy!

and this time i'm taking lucozade and hard boiled sweets with me, cos i didnt bother last time and it would have been useful. think i'm gona take a sandwich too, cos i never got my tea and toast afterwards :(

Not a list but advice really, try to contain everything in a smallish bag as they are so strict with space and I got told off for the size of mine so I halfed mine and still had plenty. I was kept in 3 days due to Katie having jaundice and being under the light so even a small bag and you will have enough :)

I had a hand luggage trolly dolly and my handbag.... Mind you we arent restricted on space as you get a massive room with a bathroom each in our Birth Centre :)

i had a huge sports bag thing, a smaller one and the changing bag  there really wasnt enough space for it all! this time i've got the big sports bag and changing bag!

Thanks ladies these are a lot more realistic compared to the ones on the websites, quite exciting getting everything packed :) I'm using a hand luggage case with wheels, for convenience more than anything

I'm going to start packing mine soon so thanks for the lists everyone :) xx
