Cora.

I'm after a traditional yet modern name and I seen Cora and really like it, it's the only name oh hasn't turned his nose up at.

x

I love this name it was top of my list but OH doesn't like it. I think it sounds modern (similar to ava, Ella etc) but it has loads of history to it.

I love cora, it is a short but strong name. Pretty and suitable at all ages. Xx

Cora Elise is our front runner too. Hubby is half Irish so fits us well.

It was our backup name for Freya too when she was born.

Its unusual enough without being too out there and is a traditional Irish name at the same time
(And the hot girl from Last of the Mohicans was called Cora. One of my favourite films. Hubby hasnt realised this yet..... haha) x

Ah thank you ladies. It does seem to be my favourite at the minute and like I said the only one oh seems keen on.

I was worried it was a bit too Downton Abbey! Lol

I've not met any Cora's yet so that is a bonus also x

Well since we called our wee girl Cora all we have heard is "do you watch Eastenders?". Erm no we dont.

Apparently there is an old hag of an alcoholic called Cora in it. A few people have even said "that would've put me off the name".

We dont care but if you do go with Cora prepare yourself for it! X

Oh Lynds that's a horrible thing for people to say.
I don't actually watch eastenders so Im oblivious :)
The only Cora from the tV I know of is lady Grantham in Downton abbey..a classy lady!x

I do not like this name( but it's mostly because i knew one very very unpleasant lady with name Cora when i was little( can't do anything with this feeling to a poor innocent name:)

I liked it so much I called my dog it when I was younger :( lol. I also have ruined Lucy, Chloe, Zoe and Jessica by calling my childhood rabbits it and more recently the cats Sophie and Lottie (Charlotte). I never thought this through.... Side story - I did scare my brother a few years ago texting him saying 'Lucy's dead' forgettig his then GF (now wife) is called Lucy...oooops.

Lovely name :)

Lovely name :)

Called the cat Amber, it's one of my all time fave girls name but consensus is I cannot name any daughter I may have after my cat (I love my cat!)

Love Cora, I know Lynds has a Cora and I bet it sounds extra nice in a Scottish accent (you're Scottish aren't you MrsW?)

X

I am indeed scottish Nat ( well remembered) :D we just live in Somerset.
Still not found any other girls names we like so it's the main contender at the minute :) x

I love Cora :) just suggested this to my sister who's having a baby girl in October :) xx

It also says in your profile that you are originally from Edinburgh :rofl:

I think Cora goes so well with M as well

X

Ha it does too! Lol baby brain!

We have been thinking about Erraid, anyone who has been watching the commonwealth games may have seen a 13 yr old para swimmer for Scotland get a bronze.
This name is growing on me :) x

Cora is now one of the top contenders on our list :) I like Cora Elizabeth xxx
