How old are you/were you? I'd love for you to share your stories as I know how scary it can be or was. I'm 18, I gave birth to Jacob 5 months after my 17th birthday and at times it was tough. His father denied paternity and the only effort made for the DNA test he stated he wanted was when I took him to the child support agency and he decided to dispute paternity, needless to say the results came back 99.9% sure he was the father. I have only just started recieving maintenece after months of him lying to the CSA that he was a student (so he didnt have to pay not even the flat rate of £5 a week) I only have just started recieving because I asked for a review of the case aswell (£56 pcm, not alot but better than nothing)! I'm now 18, almost 19 and 5 months pregnant with baby number 2. This time I'm not really scared even though it looks like I'm going to be going it alone again as I know what to expect a little more. My mum was my rock the first time and I'm sure she will be again this time. :)

Sorry Vix, men can be such losers at times.

I'm not a young Mum (ahem.... a rather old one tbh :)) I take my hat off to girls like you as I know how hard things can be, you're doing a grand job xx

You're not old :) :) x

Must have been so hard for you Vix  You are doing a fab job :) I was pregnant at 18, and we had Odhrán 4 months after my 19th birthday.. I take my hat off to anyone who has done it even younger.. Because at almost 20, I sometimes find it hard, but I wouldn't have it any other way.. xx

I was a young mum still am classed as 1. I was just turned 16 when i fell pregnant with my Daughter, i stayed with her dad till i was 19 when he left me for someone else. I didnt have the best pregnancy as i kept being reffered to as high risk coz i was 16 yet there was nothing to make me high risk. I went 1week overdue and had my daughter by natural birth with just a teeny tiny bit of gas and air. :) Im now 20 (21 in sept) and im just over 10 weeks away from having my baby boy! Whom im still with his daddy (hoping to get married next year) :) x

i had my son 2weeks before my 18th birthday... i did have his dad around till he was 2, then the police came to arrest him for sleeping with 15yr old girl...so when he was out at work the next day i packed my bags and moved into a flat (gotta love family) so i started it all again from scratch at the age of 20 and never looked back.
there was tough times, at one point me and my son had no food, heating or electric, but that just makes me who i am now, cos i promised that night sitting in the dark that i would never b like this again.

I got another house with better heating, went to college, got a full-time job and a new car...you could say i live for my son lol, but i wouldnt change a thing...he has made me who i am today and i thank him for it, even tho i was on 17 when i had him.

since i split with his dad it took me a long time to trust another man and let a man near my son, so that was sneeky trying to date etc without my son getting involved, but i managed and i now have my stu and hes moved in and we trying for our little miracle .

i hate how people brand young mothers as "sluts and money spongers" etc, we just the same as anyone else having a babay at end of the day ..

ema-lou24 - I can't even afford to heat the flat I'm in as it's all electric it just eats it right up  Sounds like you've done such a good job hun. We all live for our kids :D. Yeah, I know what you mean about the brang tag (not everyone gives it to us though) It's legal to have a child at 16 at the end of the day :) xx (Glad you left the next day btw hun, I don't blame you ) xx

Ema I agree.. Young mothers are just as capable as a mother of any other age! I hate hate hate when we are seen as young, stupid, careless "little" girls.. I do everything for my son, and am only on benefits because my contract ended while I was pregnant.. As soon as Odhrán is a bit older, I am going on a back to work scheme where I can re-sit exams, get more qualifications (Have 5 GCSE's and 2 certificates in Word Processing and IT) but I want to do something with my life so I can give my son the life he deserves, I hate when young mothers are all tarred with the same brush.. x

terrie - That's lovely :) you never know, you might have more :)

i can also introduce myself as a young mum even now i am 26 ive got my first baby when i was 21 and then first boy with 23 and 2nd with 25.I didnt expect to have 3 kids with only 26 but i enjoy mother job.Nothing smart to tell except if you fell you can....:)

I fell pregnant with katie at 19, had her when I was 20 and was pregnant again 3 months after giving birth  I had ella when I was 21 and am bow almost 22! I split up with their dad when I was 4 weeks off having ella! I hate being branded as a young single mum cos I would have done anything to bot have to leave their dad, but at the end of the day it was best for us all!

I personally don't feel any different to n older mum, I look after my babies and love them just as much a any parent would!

I was 18 when I fell pregnant with Eva and 19 when I had her. Then 21 when I fell pregnant this time and I'm 22 now. If I'm honest though I've never felt like a young mum. The kids' dad and I have split up and he moved out when Eva was 5 months but we were on and off right up until I fell pregnant with this little lad and I had to call it a day. He was stressful enough with Eva

Vix that's what I'm wanting to do too :) And by the time I'm fully qualified Odhrán will be at school so it will work out well xx

I fell pregnant at 18 and had her when i was 19, moved into a flat when she was 2 months old, lived there for nearly a year, I went back to work when she was 3 months old, omg that was the hardest thing i ever had to do, but luckly my mum was looking after her, then i fell pregnant again when she was only a few months old had her when i was 20, moved into a house and when the 2nd was 6 weeks old my 'ex' walked out on us, we got back together 6 months later, then split again after 6-7 months, since the youngest was 6 weeks ive done it all on my own, had no help from their dad and no support either even with money.
I met my hubby 8-9 years ago and always been friends, but got to know eachother alot more when my youngest was a year and a half, we moved in with him after 6 months, he proposed after a year and we got married a year later, hes been a better father to my girls than their 'dad' and we even had to goto court to get him to stick to contact or stop it all together, so now they see him every 2 weeks and working up to staying over night.
Me and hubby started trying for a baby in december and now im 15 weeks pregnant :D
Core thats an essay lol.

One memory that sticks out tho, is when i was pregnant with my 2nd and walking around town with my daughter and getting filthy looks, i did look younger than i was (about 14-15) people still think im about 16 and im 25, and my mum shouting at the top of her voice, "core i could understand if you was 15 and going back to school but your a bloody adult for goodness sake" lol i was more embarassed about my mum than the looks lol.

i fell pregnant at 17 and have just had my lilybum at 18 :)
her dad already has a 5month old son and hasn't seen her yet and wasn't there through the pregnancy but my family, especially my mum has been so so supportive seeing as he hasn't contributed towards anything for her.
i'm living with my mum still and i'm currently paying for her off income support as i don't get maternity pay or allowance but my job are holding my position open for when i return :D

I was 20 when i got pregnant with my son(had 2 other pregnancy's before him but mc) had he at 21, I had 2 more mc's then 2 more babies girl at 23 and a boy at 24, not to young. But i'm now 25 and pregnant with my 4th. Me and partner together 10 years and never thought this would be possible! x

im so impressed whit you all! Im 25 and expecting my first. Im terrified!
But i know i will make it cuz i have too. And i wouldnt change a thing.
