Hi ladies,

Im looking for stories good and bad, about getting dates wrong.

Here's the story.

Lmp 28th June
Positive hpt 28th July (very very light)
Strong lines 5th August
Brown discharge started 21st August (still going)
Epu scan 24th August, saw sack and yolk, no fetal pole.
By my dates I should have been 8 weeks but only measure 5-6.
Went back for another scan 31st August, they said it has grown and there is evidence of what might be a fetal pole.
Going back for another scan next Friday.

Has anyone ever had dates out by 2-3 weeks?

My previous cycle had been extremely short (20days) but were generally 26 days before the odd one.

I went for the 2nd scan on Friday fully prepared for the worst news, I had already accepted it when they said I was only measuring 5-6 weeks at the first scan but now there has been growth?! I'm so confused and don't know how I could be so far out, I had all the ovulation signs at the right time in my cycle, spotted when my period was due ( I took that to be implantation)

Im in limbo now for another week, still nauseous, still exhausted, but sore boobs have disappeared, as has the bloating and constant need to pee.

I'm prepared for bad news but I'm starting to let a little hope back in as there was growth, am I mad?!

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. How far apart were your scans, and how much growth was there between them? Did you see a heartbeat at this latest scan?

No heartbeat and they were a week apart.
They didn’t give me much info, I guess they don’t know what is happening either.
They said it grew from 9mm - 13mm and there was a bright spot on the yolk that could potentially become a fetal pole.

Thanks for replying x

Sorry you are going through this niknaknoo, I’ve been through something similar too so I know how awful it is, I would say to be careful about getting your hopes up to much :-( if you got a faint positive test on 28th July, assuming that would be the earliest you could get a positive which realistically would be 7dpo so 3 weeks pregnant, that should put you at 7+5 (ish) on 31st August where you should be seeing the embryo and heartbeat, did you tell them what date you got a positive test? When I had this happen to me they were so quick to just try and tell me I had my dates wrong when I knew I didn’t, however the sonographer did say to me they had seen cases like mine and yours where the women goes back a few weeks later and there is a perfectly healthy embryo with heartbeat, and I had seen some similar stories online but I think that’s few and far between unfortunately, sending you lots of love I hope yours has a happy ending xx

Thanks night owl.
No they didn't ask when I got my positive.
My head is telling me that it isn't viable and the dates are too wrong, but the sonograper isn't writing it off yet which is just so confusing.
I just want to know so I can move on. Fx for a clear answer this Friday.

Sonographers seem to pass a lot of things off as wrong dates... I was 11 weeks but only measuring 5 and they said I must have just got my dates wrong. A repeat scan showed my initial instincts were right and they were wrong.

Yes akua that would mean you would have got a positive pregnancy test weeks before even conceiving: impossible, they don’t question the dates enough with people they just let people who might not be as clued up as we TTC ladies are walk away with false hope :wall2:

This happened to me also niknaknoo twice and unfortunately didn’t end well. The baby didn’t really grow beyond 6 weeks (I should have been 8-9) we saw a heartbeat at first scan both times but at next scans heartbeats were no longer there and growing had stopped. The dates they were giving this time would have meant I got a BFP at 3dpo which I knew wasn’t possible. I know the waiting is torture and hope you’re coping ok. Try to keep hope but I’d also prepare yourself incase it doesn’t work out x

This happened to me.
My cycle length was 35 days normally.
We dtd around 3rd July 2017 and then again around the 17th July 2017.
I got a bfp on cd35 31st july 2017 and it was very faint. From my last lmp It worked out 7 weeks. A week after the bfp I started bleeding and so I went to a&e and they checked my cervix closed, and refered me for a scan a few days later. Had an Internal scan and nothing was seen apart from a yolk sac so they said around 4 to 5 weeks. I was referred back 3 weeks later. Had an abdominal scan and I was 8 weeks and 1 day. The bleeding still continued heavy until 10 weeks. 12 weeks came and everything was fine.

Sorry your having such a stressful time niknaknoo! Fingers crossed you get some answers soon. Thinking positive thoughts for you xxx

Hi ladies, as suspected unfortunately I have lost the baby. Although technically there never was one as they only ever saw a sack and yolk.
I’m absolutely devastated and even though I was prepared for it it hurts like hell to have it confirmed.
Booked in for medical management next week unless nature takes its course in the meantime.
Hopefully I’ll be back in a few months.

Oh no :( I am so, so sorry, it’s truly devastating and I hope for your sticky baby very, very soon.

So sorry nik hope your recovery goes as well as it can x
