Type of Sanitary wear for after the birth

My bleeding has gone at 2 weeks, but I am still using slim pads (just normal sanitary ones) so don't stock up to much... I was expecting to bleed alot more x

I just used the cheap maternity pads from Wilkos or Morrisons - the MW in the hospital said not to use ones like Always as the cheapy ones are best as they allow you to breathe more down there.

Also a Godsend were disposable knickers - not very attractive, but comfy and saves wasting proper underwear. I took in a normal pair to come home in, and changed into the disposables as soon as I got home, as they were so much comfier and more breathable!!

Really?! I was the complete opposite!
After I had my bath in the hospital, I put on disposable knickers and hated them, and changed into regular big knickers as soon as I got to my room. I couldn't stand the disposables, found them so uncomfortable.

I bought big knickers & more maternity pads from tescos, I have disposable knickers but cheapie pack of big cotton briefs just incase I'm not a fan.

Finally finished packing my hospital bag last night.....I'm so excited now! Xxx

That's what I did, so if they got ruined by leakages it didn't matter and I could throw them away x

Well I went to Primark last week and bought 15 pairs of cheap black knickers for £7.50. I also have 10 pairs of those weird disposable pants and a variety of massive sanitary wear so I am good to go (not yet though please bub!)

Ooh think I better get some more, how many do you all think I need??

Ladies,

Be careful with the sizes you buy from Primark.

Mine were all too small (12-14) I currently fit into a 12 M&S knickers.

I had to bin them all as they were just to uncomfy

Also the dispoable ones got binned, they are horrid and uncomfy!

I've got cheap pants (£1 each) from asda two sizes bigger than usual and I opted for the high ones to make sure they don't sit on section wound.

I've also got Mothercare maternity pads and some night time sanity pads, I'm hoping I can move to the sanity pads sooner rather than later!

Its the length you need more than anything - high up at both the front and back as it just gets everywhere! The cheapos are fine to use, though the ones that have a bit on cushioning printed into them are better - the really cheap ones tend to separate top from padding and that ends up with leakage - yuck! I would say though, don't get fooled into thinking things are slowing down after a couple of days and go for lighter pads. The flow can fluctuate and gushes on standing up are common (for me at least) for at least a week. Also, for you BFing ladies, BF helps the womb to contract so can give you gushes while you feed. Its all lovely, isn't it?!?

Im a 12-14 normally and needed size 16 pants from primark

I hated maternity pads and found that the bodyform night time pads (in a blue pack) were the best.

Also always dailies are the best liners for lighter bleeding.

I've tried them all!

Please excuse any typos from my fat fingers!
Tapatalk madness!

Granny pants are best! I ended up wearing disposables as they went right over my scar, however they made my scar sweat alot so wasn't great. The ones I took rubbed the scar so couldn't win!! Loads of maternity pads too! I'm still bleeding a fair bit even now x

Im discovering I'm same to babyEm, I bought disposables and Get a big size because they need to go over a scar if you have one. They don't feel uncomfy & I stopped caring because I have gone through more than I expected. Have huge granny pants on standby too!

Joys of labour!xx
