the smear thread #2

I've just had my results and all normal :cheer: I don't have to have another one now for 3 years which is great as I was having them done every year due to abnormal cells. Get booking ladies if you haven't done so already - it's not that bad

i was advised that you should start having smears as soon as you are sexually active, once you've had your first you'll go onto the system to be called every three years...its over in seconds, not all that bad and could save your life

I have only ever had one smear test and I should have one every 2 years because there has been a history of cervical cancer on my mums side of the family and my dads side!

Well had my smear this morning and it was quite alright actually! It's my third smear but first one since giving birth and honestly it's nothing at all comapared to childbirth!!!
So come on ladies get those smears sorted, and you could be saving your life.

Well i gone and done it :?

Mine is booked for friday 2nd march, i know its a bit far off but i needed to have it when DF was off work to have Olivia!

Was gonna have it this week as DF has a week off but the old wicked witch is due to arrive

Ive got mine this afternoon, dont know why im so nervous, maybe its because I dont want anything to get in the way of having a baby?

Ahwell, wish me luck :D

I agree with everyone, having your smear is soooo important! I hate them too but I have never had a clear one, I have also had two colposcopies, the last being on Tuesday. A smear is nothing compared to this!! I have to get a colposcopy every year until I have had 3 clear in a row!
The doc told me she'll write to me within 4 weeks and told me to expect treatment so Im guessing it looks like pre cancerous cells. I dont exactly want laser treatment but I am a Mummy now and I would never do anything that would put my son at risk of not having me there, hence the reason I grin and think of him whiole being prodded about! Makes it so much more worthwhile.
Also as soon as my baby making is over I am going to get everything whipped out!
So go on girls, get on the phone to the doc!! Just think of your wee ones, you wouldnt be able to live with yourselves if they found something bad that could have been caught earlier xxx

Ive just got back from having my smear, and wanted to reasure anyone whos worried how easy it was!

It didnt hurt atall, was just a strange feeling, and she said I might have some spotting but I havnt yet.

Im now at home in no discomfort atall, it really was a walk in the park!

well girls i have an appointment for my smear next friday! i know its taken such a long time but ive done it!!!!
i have an asthma check with the same nurse on the same appointment so i hope she doesn't do it at the same time :rotfl:

i just thuoght id tell you all i had finally made an appointment.

who else has had a smear test recently ?

I checked with my GP and he said I can't have one untill im 25... But when my Mum had my Brother she had a smear at her Postnatal check and they found funny cells, she had to have 1 every 3 months after that and they found those funny cells again on two occasions but they seemed to have disappeared, I'm little worried that I might take after my Mum but my Doctors dont seem fussed and say i'll be fine

I got my results a couple of weeks ago and let me tell you, its such a relief when it comes back normal! Id never really thought about it but once I had the smear all kinds of scenarios went throuhg my head so im very VERY pleased I had it - Ive been very naughty and never had one before even though im in my early 30's

Me too. I had my first one at 19 and then 23. I haven't had one since, but going to make appiontment in a few weeks as I was told by MW I had to wait 12 weeks after birth.

My docs don't do them until we are 25 either, its just daft really  lots of women before the age of 25 have had cervical cancer and most of them had children.

The doc even confirmed what I had read, but she said the risk is still very low.

I have so much confidence in the world today
