my first smear was awful the doctor got my labia stuck in her speculum (the metal thing that opens the way) bloody killed!
then i had to go back cos they didnt get enough cells i was terrified my poor foo foo.

my mums been on about this so i thought i should call doctors and said i was 20 have just had a baby could i request a smear ... NOPE! not till im 25, bloody fantastic if i get cervical cancer in the next 5 years ill be a bit buggered!

im sure ur ment to have one after having a baby !!!????!!!!! thats madness ! id ring again ., or go to a sexual health clinic ?

I had one done ages ago i forget what for now but it wasnt a smear. But i got the letter just after my 21st and never went for it as i hated the thought of having it done again

i was supposed to have one done this month, but i cant cos im pg then i will have to wait 6 months after i have had this baby to get my next one done, so will probley be september/october time!!

im 19 will they give me one....its stupid cause the doctor in the hospital didnt tell me if it was a smear or she was just taking a swab to check for womb infection or what!

Cassi regardless of your age you are entitled to a smear when you are sexually active. I had my first smear at 14.

Oh right thats good, I was just asking because someone posted they couldnt have one untill 21/25?

I asked for a smear at my previous doctors (when I was 21) because my aunt and grandmother have both had problems with pre-cancerous cells, and I was told I couldn't have one until I was 25 regardless of how long I had been sexually active because they're not accurate until then. I thought that was a bit odd but haven't dared ask since because I was made to feel so stupid for asking. I've recently changed docs so might pluck up the courage to mention it again after baby arrives.

ive never had one... they sent the letter to the wrong address!

I mentioned it to my docs and he said you have to wait until 6 months after having a baby. he said there was no point in doing onebefore i think i may ask my HV when she next comes round...

I've just had one done! And I have to get my mamogram (sp?) done in March!
I have to get them done once a year as my Mum died of cancer.

Beleive me - smears dont hurt near as much as getting your boobies squished!

she gets the results back in 8 weeks as they have a backlog to get threw

i tend to laugh through stuff like this. last internal i had pre labour i giggled to my self all the way through. Doc must have thought i was loopy....

Finally bit the bullet and booked my smear test for this wednesday. Midwife said to wait till 12 weeks after the birth for it...seeing as Elliott is nearly 16 weeks old i suppose i may as well get it over and done with.
But i don't like them
Who else has been with their legs up in the air recently? lol

I have just had my letter through to say mine is due as its 3 yrs since last had one. Phoned the docs but they have told me best time is days 12 to 14 of cycle so will have to wait til next month now!!

I had an appointment this morning for an internal (start of fertility checks) but as AF started I couldnt have it, kept appointment anyway, and she did recomend I have a smear first of all to get my gyno records up to date and just make sure theres nothing abnormal, so ive got a smear booked for next monday arvo.

In all honesty Ive been really really bad and have never had one
