I had a day 2 transfer on 13th November and my official test date is 26th November. I haven't been testing so far ie to see when the trigger goes so I'm not sure if I want to start now as I wouldn't want to see a bfn even if it's too early. When would be the fîrst time a bfp should show? Every time I think of a date I get the fear. Is it best to try and enjoy being PUPO and risk a big disappointment on the 26th or even worse be caught out early if af comes first? Or is it better to test and know? To add to the mix my oh's friend is coming to stay on 22nd which riles out that date and its my oh's birthday on the 24th which I wouldn't want to risk ruining.

If you are also having ivf/ICSI what are you planning to do or if you've already done it what did you do? This is definitely going to be a very long 11 days xx

Oh I don't know what I will do. I usually try to wait til 11/12dpo but I wonder if I will be too scared to test with IVF as I will feel extra pressure and emotions. I am not much help but didn't want to read and run xx

A friend who went through 3 failed IVF cycles (last one ending in a chemical pregnancy) warned me (as general TTC) advice not to test before the missed period, as it is awful to get a positive and then see it go to negative.

For my first two IVF cycles I didn't test early, although in the first case I started to have bleeding before the official test date which made it easier to know 'oh this didn't work'. I had a chemical pregnancy with the second cycle but that was shown up in the blood work rather than tests. Having said that, I did start testing around 10 dpo on my third cycle because I was extremely suspicious that something was up. At that stage however the results are so imperceptible that you're still left in limbo going "is that a line or not... I think it is" etc.

I've kind of rambled here but my advice would be to aim to wait until the day they tell you to test, if at all possible. And if not, 12 dp e.c. will show something if it's there. xx

I would wait too. They obviously tell you a date, so you're not testing too early. However, I totally understand the desperately wanting to test too! Good luck! I hope you get that BFP x

I tested the night before I was supposed to in both cycles (I was working at 0600am both days and didn't fancy being hit with a bfn while rushing to get to work at stupid o'clock). I got negative both times, and was gutted.
The second cycle when I tested on actual test day at 0430am I got a BFP... so I guess those few hours and FMU made a difference.

Basically, I would hold out for OTD if you can..... we had a total rollercoaster of the second cycle getting BFN, then BFP (then sadly mc at 6 weeks)

Thanks everyone! Still not sure what I'm going to do but your input has been useful. I'm in work on the 26th and I know I'll be gutted if it's a bfn so I do want to know before then so I'm not a crying mess in work. I'm off on 24th and 25th and as it's my oh's birthday on the 24th I'll probably wait til the 25th. I just hope af doesn't come along and surprise me before then. Definitely the hardest 2ww ever! xxx

:clock:I waited for the OTD both times with IVF but it was agony. The last time I thought it would be a BFP & I managed to hold out and I was shaking with anticipation but it was a crushing BFN. I wish I'd tested early when I felt the symptoms, even if I got an early positive that then changed. Just to know that there might have been something there. Next time I'm going to test early so that I'm prepared and its not such a disappointment.

The only thing I would say is wait 10 days after the trigger shot!

Thanks Blueflower - I am worried about crushing disappointment if I get to OTD without af appearing, I can imagine how gutted you were when this happened to you. I kind of want this PUPO feeling to continue for a bit longer so I'm not going to test too early. I think it will either be the day before OTD which will be 12dp2dt or 2 days before if I really can't hold out xx

I know what you mean! All the time its not negative it could be positive! It didn't help when my acupuncturist and GP both assumed I was pregnant! No wonder I'm confused!
The progesterone does delay AF so bear that in mind.

Exactly! If I don't see a negative it could still be a positive! I hope that I don't get af before OTD as at least then I'll know the progesterone was doing its job.

I had a 5 day transfer on a Sunday and tested on the Wednesday. Was getting faint bfps then confirmed it on the Friday. I wasn't meant to test until following Thursday so I definitely tested very early. Mine was a frozen transfer with no progesterone though so I knew the cramps etc were something happening. Wishing you all the luck in the world! I'll be stalking! Xx

Wow charlie you did get your bfp early! I think on a fresh cycle you have to wait at least 10 days for the trigger to leave. You were lucky not having to take progesterone, it's messy stuff! I'm 6dp2dt transfer so still too early to test. I'm on knicker watch though as I feel like af is on its way, I'm just praying it isn't and I at least get to OTD. At the moment I'm planning to test on Monday which will be 12dp2dt and just 1 day before OTD.

Thanks so much for wishing me luck - fx I will be in your position in a few weeks! xxx

I've got everything crossed for you! I'll be keeping your seat warm over on tri 1! The AF feeling is a good sign, I had that since the day after my transfer. Xx

Hi blueflower, I've no major symptoms to speak of, I'd love to feel really sick or something obvious but nothing so far! I've had a few pulling pains and have felt like af is about to make an arrival since last Tuesday/Wednesday but nothing yet. I also have a few spots and a couple in weird places (my jawline and one on my neck!) - would like to think there's good reason for that sypmtom and it's not a new af feature! Me and my oh had a bit of a meltdown today and there were tears on both sides, it's hard when it gets to this point and you're going to find out whether everything you've gone through over the last 6 weeks has paid off or not. One of my oh's friends texted yesterday to say their 4th go at ivf has worked and they're pg with twins which cheered me up a bit and reminded me that even if it doesn't work first time I've got to keep on trying. Sorry that was an essay! When are you thinking of trying again? x

Strange spots sound promising! Was the quarrel about the situation? I thought you were going to say that they were pregnant and you were envious but 4 attempts is a lot. We have a consultation in a week or so about the further test results then hope to have another go in the new year. Still hopeful we could do it without treatment but it's unlikely! Good luck for testing day!

I think it was just the build up of pressure over the last few weeks, the possibility it might not have worked and the prospect that you might have to pick yourself up and start all over again. It'll be good to get the results of your tests even if it just rules some things out. I'll have everything crossed that your third cycle works (or preferably that you get lucky before then and don't need it!) x

Wishing you lots of look for tomorrow! I've got everything crossed for you! XxX

Just thought I would update that I got a bfp this morning! Excited and absolutely terrified - surely this has got to be third time lucky?!! Praying that this bean is strong and healthy xx
