So excited to be at 32 weeks!!!
Starting the raspberry leaf tea today. I'll keep you posted!
Also planning tour of hospital/birthing unit, writing birth plan and marking off hospital bag checklist. Totally excited!!! Xxxx

:yay: little things like that make it all so real! Nearly 50 days to go for me. Seeing MW on tuesday so prob gonna do my birth plan then. I'm intrigued to see if RLT does help so I'll deffo want updating sunny!

I have heard now they advice to start at 35 weeks and not earlier not sure it will make a difference though

I thought it was 35 weeks too, but love raspberry leaf tea so if you can start it sooner I'll join you in 2 weeks!

I know they say it has to build up in your body for it to be effective, i remember it being 35 wks with Adam but im sure babycentre say you can now start at 32 wks x x

it did really help my sister lol, she started taking them when she was 32 weeks and her baby was out week 37, didnt have any pain during labour... i have been taking them since week 32 x

It's mad all the conflicting info., isn't it? I'm tentatively starting today with 1 cup a day - if anything doesn't feel right, I'll deffo be stopping until later.

Traci - it is the little things like this, I know what you mean :yay:

xxxxx

Hi SunnyGirl, I'm not too far behind you and would like to start RLT at 32 weeks. Where abouts did you get yours from? Is it all pretty much the same??

Well as far as I'm concerned, I'm 3 days behind then! I'd love to have LO out at 37 weeks, I'm starting to lose the will to live with the amount of pain and discomfort I'm in! Even my mum (who is literally the least compassionate person ever) said to me that it's a shame they can't take him out now because I'm struggling so much!

Where can I get this stuff from? And what exactly does it do?

xx

I think I started at 33wks and I think it defo worked for me! Went into hospital at 5-6cm and 1hr and 15mins later he was born! Which I think is pretty quick.. :)

I got mine in Holland & Barrett as capsules. It's a weeny bit minging to drink, I found out today, so these will do me! It's supposed to shorten the second stage of labour because it strengthens uterine muscles. I'll find some links in the morning. Tell your MW you're taking it, though.

Kelly - that's the kind of success story I like to hear!! How's life with your newborn? Ahhh congrats again! Xxx

haha I was just going to ask if it tasted nice, I guess not so maybe the capsules are best. Shame though would have been nice if the tea had tasted good would have been my decafe tea substitute. We will all have to keep everyone up to date with whether it works. I will be starting mine in a weeks time :-)

I've never tried the bags, mind. The tea was like veg water with the capsules. It was more that it was loose and bits floating everywhere uuugh!! Intrigued to try a bag, tho xxx

ive got Hollands and Barretts capsules, the woman behind the counter told me to take them from 37 weeks and my midwife agreeded. But ive been taking 6 a day since 36 weeks, i cant drink the tea bags, yuk x

Am on capsules, have been for almost a week now. Says to take between 2 and 6 a day and that it needs to build up in your system to be effective. Holland and Barratt have the 400mg ones in their penny sale, their RLT bags are in the same offer!

Only thing I've noticed is stronger BH, although not massively stronger, just like my body is getting ready for the birth. Would love to have baby early!

I started drinking the tea around 32 weeks (I think) but got really bad braxton hicks so laid off it as didn't want to bring baby on too early
Around 35 weeks I got the Holland & Barrett capsules and built these up over the last few weeks. In the last 2 weeks I was taking 5-6 capsules a day (knocked the actual tea on the head as I kept forgetting to have it) and after my waters broke Brooke arrived about 2 hours later...! I deffo think it's what made my labour so quick!
I'm all about the herbal remedies - I think it was Holland & Barrett Agnus Castus that got me pregnant with Brooke too! I say go for it ;-) x
Xxx

Jenny - ditto a fan of the herbs! Agnus Castus was involved the month I got my BFP!
:yay:

Well, I woke last night to the sensations that someone was pulling my belly tight like a drawstring bag through my belly button. They were intense enough to wake me up and make me wince, so I think these were BH x 10!! Going to lay off the RLT until 34 weeks now and try again!

I work @ Holland and Barrett hun and in a book we use for reference it does say the tea is safe to drink from 32 weeks (1 cup a day to start and freely after 40 weeks and labour) as it needs to build up in your system to work effectively. The capsules are obviously alot stronger so we dont recommend taking them until about 34-36 weeks. xx

I took RLT tablets and drank the tea last time and it didn't do a thing for me!! LOL.

I had a very long drawn out labour, failure to progress for AGES (went into labour at 8pm Friday night, went into hospital at midday on the Saturday and was 4cms and wasn't fully dialated till 6am on Sunday morning!!). Plus, my uterus failed to contract and I lost 2 pints of blood.

On the other hand, maybe my labour would have been even worse if I hadn't taken it??!!!
