Starting my RLT today!

I'm starting my teabags today, wanted to wait until 35 weeks but then with being in hospital Friday & Saturday I darent start so I've waited until I felt better and am diving in today!!! I hope it does make a difference, especially as I am planning a hypnobirth as well which is also meant to shorten labour, just hope I make it to the hospital in time lol!!!!

I'm gonna get some tea and capsules tomorrow when I go in the town x :) x

Hope they work, I get BH regularly anyway, so hopefully it'll help with labour! X

I work @ Holland and Barrett hun and in a book we use for reference it does say the tea is safe to drink from 32 weeks (1 cup a day to start and freely after 40 weeks and labour) as it needs to build up in your system to work effectively. The capsules are obviously alot stronger so we dont recommend taking them until about 34-36 weeks. xx

Aha! Good to know from someone in the know! I'll start again at 34. The man who sold them to me gave me no advice at all - just took the money and chatted to his colleague. I should've just butted in and asked

Xx

 the tea bags are nasty!! Just struggling through my first cup now!! I got the clipper organic raspberry leaf teabags as its all I could find in Tesco!

Sounds typical of some shop associates!! If anyone comes in and buys something like raspberry leaf tea or capsules or clary sage etc I always ask if its for them, how far gone they are etc, would feel so bad if I didnt!! Anyone who is employeed by Holland + Barrett has to take and pass exams on the products and we have to go to training days etc lol it does prove useful at times like these :D if u want anymore info I'll do my best to help :P xxx

eeeek! hasnt that gone fast!

Wont belong till LO is here, so exciting :)

Started the tea bags yesterday (from holland and Barrett), I only had one but I've had 3 today, quite like the taste. Do you think it's bad that I had 3 today? Or should I stick to 1 for a bit first? Don't want to do anything wrong etc

Okay, I am intrigued. I've not heard of these capsules! Being in Germany the only thing I think I could find is twinings raspberry tea. Now would these have the same effect? Or are the health shop bought products alot better. I want another quick pain free labour & I'm all for herbal remedies! Advice appreciated :)

Raspberry leaf tea is different to raspberry fruit tea so you will probably need to find a herbal shop for it. You can get it online though if you can't find it. I'm planning to start this week too :)

Sorry to hijack your thread sunny but Lauren do you know much about clary sage and bringing on labour?

I think u should be ok with 3 cups a day at 38 weeks, I started on 1 cup at 35 weeks, when i hit 37 on sat I'm increasing it to 2 cups, then at 38 3 cups, 39 4 cups, and after 40 I'm gonna drink as many as I can stand!!!! So i think if you dive in at 3 cups it should be fine and you can increase it each week then it builds it up in your system.

After reading this a lovely friend of mine who has gone to the UK for the weekend is kindly bringing me back some H&B capsules! :)

Just been to holland and Barrett for some tea, I asked about essential oils for late pregnancy and birth but the girl had only just started working there so didn't have a clue, I knew more than she did! Never mind, I'll do some googling!

sorry to be dumb but whats the benefit of RLT?

It helps strengthen the uterine muscles, which makes the second stage of labour more effective and therefore shorter. Google it! Got loads of benefits! Xx

I went to southampton today to west quay and was hoping for a holland and barrett so i could by some RLT... but there wasn't one! Think I'll have to order some online!

xx

Ive been taking four capsules a day, and at first my braxtons seemed a bit nippier, now they don't hurt at all! X midwife said its safe to take the full six capsules a day from 36 weeks :) so will be doing that as of Monday and hoping for the best!!

I'm glad I got the capsules though, I tried the tea and it was awful :/ I normally love herbal teas, but this tasted really bad! X

I'm starting mine again today - getting the Braxtons loads now anyway, so capsules can do their worst! Excited again!!

Did it take a few days to work sunny? I get lots of BH anyway so maybe didn't notice the difference.
