I hate doctors when it comes to anything TTC related - after my last visit I don't want to go back with anything. Am going to go straight to mw if I get another bfp and straight to A&E if I ever have bleeding during pregnancy again :(

Sorry you had a crap experience - did they not even explain the results and say where you go from there or anything to help etc?

Hey hun. What were the results? If it shows you're not ovulating then there are things they can prescribe such as clomid but don't think regular gps can do it. They should refer you. I hate doctors sometimes. Hope you're ok x

Hi ladies, the doctor at first was questioning why I had 21 day bloods done because apparently 18 month of ttc is nothing!! He then told me my progesterone levels were low which shows I didn't ovulate, he then said I had pcos which I didn't really know about. He said that its a specialist subject that he doesn't really know about so he will get a female doctor to ring me in a couple of days when she's not busy! i'm annoyed! xx

Oh my god. He's just told you something you have but then not had the decency to explain what exactly it is. I would complain. He's so rude and there's no empathy at all xxx

No empathy at all I won't be seeing him again!! he was like your cycle must b irregular if u have pcos, to which I replied no because I have a 28 day cycle, have done since I was 12!! no explanation of where to go from now or if I needed to do anything! all I can do is sit around and wait for a poxy phone call in a couple of days!! xx

    hey hun

first of all dont worry about what he said about PCOS.....the only way to determine having that for definate is with a scan.....i had extremely irregular cycles (some were like 80 days others 23!).....i had a external and internal scan at hospital to see if i had PCOS and i didnt (i was surprised mind as everything pointed to that)......so based on ur 21 day blood results he cant just diagnose pcos so dont worry about that just yet.

also palming you off on a "female" dr is just a cop out (first gp i saw about my cycles was a woman and she was absolutely rubbish, didnt have a clue and was really unsymapthetic...i went and saw a male gp and he was amazing....sent me for my scan, sent hubby for sperm tests, and referred me to gynaecologist who then prescribed me clomid and after 4 rounds i got my bfp...we wer ttc 16 mths altogether)
with these gps hun sometimes u really gotta keep on at them no matter how much u think ur being a pain. i was having 21 day bloods done evry mth coz i kept on. some of these gps just dont wanna know hun, but at the end of the day 18 mths may b nothing to him but to us its a lifetime isnt it!

really hope you get some help soon hun, sorry if iv waffled but it annoys me when gps palm us off. id advice gettign second opinion off a diff dr

    xxx

Oh no that's awful :( I hate it when docs are like that, makes me wonder why they trained for years to be a gp if they dont have any empathy with people! Grrr. Hope you get some more sense from the female doc. Xx

Oh my god, he sounds horrendous! I Would see a different doctor for a second opinion. I was told in feb that I had pcos although the doctor didn't do any tests to confirm, she just told me to change my diet. I've recently been for a second opinion and the doctor doesn't believe that I have it, the new doctor said that doctors are too quick to diagnose pcos these days. Good luck x

Thats awful. I would ring them asap for an appointment with another gp and demand a referral. Everyone is entitled to investigations after 12 months so for him to belittle the fact you have been trying for 18 is ridiculous. These gps are so infuriating x

They really are!! I rang the gp agan and asked it I could make a telephone interview with the female doctor, got a call back within 10 mins!! she has booked me in for another set of 21 day bloods and also blood tests for pcos so atleast that's something. She also said if those results showed I wasn't ovulating she'd refer me xx

I'm not sure. If you didn't ovulate I think it can cause af to be late but could be worth testing if you are usually regular x

I'm not sure how he could make a Pcos diagnosis without even knowing your cycles are regular! Do you have any of the other side effects? Eg. More hair growth in unexpected places? You can have Pcos with no symptoms at all- it can only be diagnosed with a scan so don't listen to anything he said. My GP and the gyno i saw seem to be upset that I don't have Pcos symptoms, because I think it's so common that it's an easy diagnosis and means they don't have to look further.

Were all so lucky we have this forum to get advice from people who actually understand and care, and a lot who are so knowledgable! Use this to your advantage when you see the next GP and don't let them fobb u off x
