i think if they ever ban smoking whilst driving, road rage will increase 5000%

I was going to say this earlier, but thought better off it!
Can you imagine thousands of angry commuters stuck on the M25 on a friday evening, desperate for a fag. Doesn't bare thinking about!

ha ha would be quite funny in one way, but some people get really really angry if they cant have a cig, and some people get reall really angry when you call them a nob head and give them the bird so if someone is both of those things I can see an explosion :rotfl:

wipers aint a distraction cause their on steering wheel matter of a flick the switch. changing gear if u know the car and the gears and what yr in u dont need to look at the gear stick.

I dont think people should be allowed to drive with their dogs jumping all over the car, that does my head in :shakehead:

a bloke i worked with was in a car accident because the other driver drove into him because her dog jumped on her lap.

She was made to go to some driving thingy for unsafe drivers.

I think smoking when driving should be banned as it is dangerous. I used to smoke but never whilst driving. I was never that desperate that I couldn't wait until I had arrived wherever I was going before lighting up.

it's now in the highway code that you can be fined for smoking whilst driving. Eating and drinking, loud music and reading a map are also included.

good and show it should be. everything is a distraction even talking to teh driver if they cant do both concentrate on the road aswelll as talking to people in the car.

i think drivers should be charged loads and im glad they get points on their licence now for stuff too

Im sorry but I disagree. I guess it depends on the experience and competence of the driver, but on a whole most drivers know what they can and cant do safely while driving. We get enough hassle just for being drivers as it is - dont even get me started on speed cameras!

If somebody is smoking, putting on lipstick and talking on thier mobile at the same time while doing 90 on the motorway, then fair enough, ban them IMO, but talking while driving isnt a distraction unless you are looking away from the road. Smoking isnt a distraction unless your lighting up while driving and are incapable of holding the wheel with your smoking hand and keep dropping it. Which just isnt the case for most smokers. Eating a snack and having a bottle of water to hand is essential for long journeys as far as I'm concerned.

Dogs jumping around and kids not strapped in is just plain stupid and I agree that should be stopped, but I think wanting everything I mentioned above fineable (unless they do actually cause an accident) is just way OTT.

The thing is though, yes there are people that can do it safely, just like there are people that can use a mobile safely...but we have to have one rule for everyone.

TBH I'm quite glad about it cos if someone ran one of my kids over cos they were too busy smoking a fag or had just dropped it into their lap I would be head of the campaign to get it banned.

OH isn't very happy but I told him I am cos if you are driving then 100% of your concentration should be on the road.... not even 5% should be on a cigarette. Yes you might light up at the lights but then you still have it in you hand while changing gear, indicating etc... While taking a drag you are concentrating on the cigarette, smoke could go in your eyes, hot ash could land in your lap.
It all adds up to your concentration not being on the road, and potentially that other car next to you could have me and my kids in it.
