shaving

I've cracked it this morning! Had a bath, armed with a small mirror, hubbys shaving foam and a razor, and it looks like me again down there! Bit awkward at times, but I managed it, can't get on with removal creams! :)

I'm too scared of doing shower-gymnastics to try and reach the fiddly bits..
It does give me hope though that at 37 weeks you have managed this!!

I'm too chicken to go get a wax, I don't want someone staring at my foof!!!
Gahhhh! I'm destined to be hairy at this rate!!!

I remember I girl I used to know asked her mum if she would shave her foof for her before she was due... I mean really, would you?!

I wouldn't ask my mum, but I'd ask my sister before I asked my OH

Lol this makes no sense to me at all. Ur OH is in that region more often than ur sister surely?! Lol.
I don't have a sister, but me and my mum are ridiculously close, like best friends, but I could never ask her, as she has no 'business' down there, but DH has.

Besides, if I asked my mum to shave there for me she'd piss herself laughing and tell me 'hell no!' Lol.

Me and my sister aren't ridiculously close, but I know she'd do it - as she offered once  see below before you think I'm a hillbilly. I don't think I ever WOULD ask her though

My OH had to shave my legs once when I had an accident and was immobile for 4 months. I literally sobbed my heart out which I didn't expect. I don't know why I felt that way, I just felt like it ruined our relationship

A word of warning ladies, don't go too short or get rid completely before birth. Stitches and swelling + itchy regrowth = not good!!! I speak from experience...

Its shaving day again :yay:

Is it wrong that I can only be bothered once a week?

when to stop how many weeks x

You ladies are brave! Attacking the lady garden armed with a razor.
Even not pregnant I'm petrified of hacking myself to bits!

I'll settle for the trimmed neat look ;) oh and OH will be helping in the later stages.

I take it that a general tidy "around the edges" is ok?

When should we stop?

I hadn't thought of the re-growth after labour

I would say just don't take it down to the skin too late on, and believe me the midwives won't mind it a bit untidy - they've seen it all begore! I was caught out as LO was a week early - thought I'd have more regrowth time!

Ladies the good news is towards the end it stops growing so next to no shaving required! Thebad news is after the birth it starts again :-( xx

ooh does it??? think i might just lop the whole lot off at about 35 weeks and take it from there.............

I find that if I use veet, it comes in softer and smoother every time than it does if I shave. So I'm not too bothered about regrowth after birth.

Today was veet day! Here's my tried and tested method: ;)

1. Use the squeezy tube not the spray, squeeze one strip up the left, and one up the right (from your inner thigh right up to the edge of your tummy where the hairline is).
2. Squeeze some horizontal stripes across the hairline down to wherever you want your landing strip to be (I inevitably get one anyway as someone pointed out this happens with coarser hair because I don't want to leave it on too long in case it starts to sting).
3. Use your hand to lightly rub in in circular motions, being careful not to spread it further than your hairline and also not to rub too much off.
4. Wash your hands in warm soapy water, sit on the toilet with the lid down (easy to wipe clean!) and read a mag for 2-3 minutes, no more than 5 in my opinion.
5. In the shower, use warm water to rinse the excess off, then use an old facecloth (much better than a sponge or scraper) to gently rub away the hair in a circular motion, change direction so it really gets rid of the stubborn bits. Even if you get a bit heavy handed and scrub a bit, it just gets a bit red and shouldn't really hurt.
6. Rinse with the shower head, making sure there's no cream left behind, rinse the cloth off and give yourself a wipe down to make sure.
7. Wash as normal with whatever you normally use, as long as it's gentle on the skin.
8. Pat dry, and other hair that's still there might still fall off even after it's dry so don't worry if there's a tiny bit of stubble. You could always gently shave that if you wanted to be extra neat!

Of course this entire post is waaaay TMI but if you have had as much trouble with this as I have then tried and tested I'm sure will be appreciated!! xx
