** September 2014 Mummies! **

Yeah was fine, just done the usual checks and measured bump...think ours is it 24wks then 28wks x

Hey ladies,

When do we generally have our glucose test? Does everyone have it? I haven't heard anything from mine about when this would be......

Hi ladies!

I'm 24 weeks today and so excited! It is all feeling much more real and the last few weeks have flown past. I have finally been feeling kicks from the baby and I just can't help but smile when it happens!

I have got a glucose tolerance test in the next couple of weeks, and then another scan in 4 weeks time, seeing the midwife and consultant afterwards. This baby is getting a lot of attention. lol. I have seen 4 different midwives so far, I guess because I won't be delivering in the same county they don't worry about continuity that way. Do most of you see the same one each time?

I am quite nervous about a possible 2 weeks on my own in Inverness after my due date if baby hasn't arrived by then. I think I will be trying to bring labour on using all the old wives tales once baby is fully cooked at 37 weeks!

ClimbingRose I have the opposite problem at work - they think because I am pregnant it means I'm not as capable! Take care working on your own, does your work have a lone worker risk assessment or policy?

xx

Soph! I must have been typing as you posted. I am getting the glucose test between 24 and 26 weeks. Midwife will be arranging it for me.

I am getting it as I am considered 'red' pathway for my weight. I don't think everyone gets it. xx

Im not too sure but I dont think everyone gets the glucose test, I think it depends if you've had GD before, or if diabetes runs in the family or you are considered high risk due to weight.
Nothing has been mentioned to me about one.. but that doesnt mean i wont get one at some point lol.

happy 24 weeks Ali! my work is very 'relaxed' (or a big joke as far as im concerned) they dont employ anyone properly and i think my boss would look very confused if I mentioned a risk assessment, he wouldnt know what that is!

Its annoying the other way round when you get treated like a child too, im glad I get left to my own devices, just wish they'd use a bit of common sense on the stuff that obviously isnt safe to do. Think I'll be getting my matb1 form on thursday then I can get the maternity leave ball rolling, I'll feel like theres an end in sight then :D xxx

I think most men in general just don't think ClimbingRose. I think it's a deficiency they have lol. Be careful going up and down those stairs though!

Nothing's been mentioned about a glucose test as yet. I have another scan next Tuesday and I have my 25 week appointment on 9th June so I'll ask about it then.

Yeah Ali, I've seen the same one each time so far, although I hope I do get to meet some more from the same team that I am under. You never know who's gonna be on delivery suite when you into labour so it's good to have met a few of them x

also with the midwife thing... ive opted for homebirth and there are 5 MW's on the community team, ive only met 1 of them so far, and am hoping to meet more so atleast I know what they look like on the big day xx

Lol MrsH, we're posting at the same time! Yeah I guess I cant really expect men to understand being pregnant when they cant even get their head around women on a normal day haha.

I feel the same as you about meeting midwives xx

I'm having the glucose test but only because my Mum is diabetic. It's supposed to be when I'm 28 weeks but haven't had an appointment through as yet - not seeing the midwife again until 28 weeks as my 25 week check is with my GP so not sure if I'll have to call the MW to chase it up.
I've seen the same midwife so far but think it's just pot luck depending on who's working the day of my appointments so not sure who I'll see next time. Crazy how much the system varies from area to area - a girl I work with is due 3 days after me and only lives in a town nearby but her 25 week check is with the MW not GP and she's been told all her appointments will be with the same MW!

(I try keeping up with this thread but your all too fast for me)
for some reason all my family have got bets on my girl arriving end of august and epically my dad as his birthday is the 27th lol I hope she's not too early but a week or so would be lovely!!!

Me and DH love catfish haha! He just loves watching drama! Lol

Went clothes shopping on Sunday and wished I hadn't just. Felt like a whale in everything came home with nothing don't know what I'm gona wear this summer! :( only thing I feel comfortable in is my preggy jeans!

Hope your all doing well! :)

New look have got some nice maternity maxi dresses, I've stocked up for my hols!

Sooooo Nicole... are you going to do the honour of moving the September mummies thread over to tri 3????!!! Or do you want someone else to do it... You've done a lovely job so far! Its less than a week away for some!! Eeeeeek!!! Last stretch! xxx

happy 25 weeks hollysmummy!

ahh i can't wait to have all our labour threads on tri 3, eek!! how exciting is that?!

how'd it go at the dentist sarah?

hey soph, i've never had a glucose test and have never even heard of it - i actually thought it was like an american thing hahaha what a douche :X

i cant remember who asked sorry, butmy 25 week appt is on the 12th june.

happy 24 weeks ali13. so nice to see you're feeling little one! v day for you, how wonderful.

in my last pregnancy, i saw a different midwife every single time, but so far this pregnancy i have seen the same one. even though i've only had i think three appointments with her - she came to do the postnatal care for me when i had ella so i already felt like i had a bond with her, she's been wonderful. it's quite nice to not be swapped around between midwives to be honest?

be careful climbingrose, take care of yourself. this baby comes first, remind them of that! men are completely rubbish in even trying to understand pregnancy, then again how can you understand something you've never experience? at least not fully. they could do with showing compassion sometimes though!

definitely -
i handed my maternity letter and matb1 in last week and i felt a massive relief knowing come august, i'm gone! yay. (even though i've only been back off prev mat leave since march hahaha)

i know vee - catfish is great! yeah, i feel the same with clothes, i've bought some holiday stuff that arrived tonight though and i'm so chuffed with how they all fit. at least you feel comfortable in jeans, i hate anything on my bump, so i just wear regular leggings under my bump. i don't have much of a social life so when i'm at home i'm literally hanging around in a tshirt, in the evenings anyway.

oh gosh climbingrose, yes i can definitely host the thread again unless someone else wants to do it?! when is the first person in tri 3, sorry i can't see tickers on my iphone, and laptop is upstairs too much effort lol.
xxxxxxxx

I also can't keep up but I do read all the posts!

Hope all you ladies are getting on ok? Tri 3 is looming large! Almost there...eeeeek!

Anyone got any suggestions for a good place to shop for a lovely long summery dress for my brothers wedding in August? Yes you heard me right...August! I will be 37+5 weeks so I will be bloody huuuuge!

Xxx

Dentist wasnt to bad..managed to get a temp filler for now until baby is here then need to go back. Think tri 3 will start next week for the first lady :-) xx

thank you sarah.

i will create the thread this week then, unless like i said someone else wants to do it?

oo gosh i'm not sure sazzle. depends on the sort of dress you are after, boohoo and missguided have some lovely maxi dresses online? i haven't been anywhere or looked anywhere else recently though, closer to the time i think shops may get more summery things in for you!

xx

Yes please do start the thread Nci! You are great at keeping it going and making it look all nice! Im one week away from tri 3 and due 3rd Sept, so anyone due 1st Sept is 5 days away! And people like Lilmiss who are actually end of august are basically there now lol xx

Ahh thanks Nic, I was careful, got it all done and promised myself if he asked me to do silly stuff again I would say. Its just I only told him last week I couldnt do this and that due to them being too physically demanding. I think he just finds me a burden now, theres not much I can do because most of the work is physical or dangerous becuause Im alone and dont have anyone to keep an eye on me, so I suppose he feels hes paying me to do nothing. I dont feel guilty though! Hes never given me and sick pay or holiday pay, and paid me minimum wage when I was the manager.. so I dont oew him anything, just staying put to keep the money coming in till I feel ready to go on maternity!

Ahhh nice feeling handing in your Matb1! Exciting! Im sure everyone in work completely understands you going on maternity leave again so quick and they must all be so happy for you that you're having another baby.

Sazzle, I got some lovely and cheap maxi dresses off ebay a couple of years ago, I think the make was Kushi? Cant remember, but you could try looking there? Im a bit of an ebay addict xxx
