** September 2014 Mummies! **

thanks soph.

yeah, with your first pregnancy it's hard to gauge when you'll want to go off. it also depends what you do, and all our bodies cope differently.

for me, being so tiny but having a massive bump, and being a dental nurse, by 34 weeks i was really struggling with back and rib pain, i'm on my feet all day at work and theyre busy days obviously some busier than others, so sometimes i am just running around like a headless chicken, also i wasnt able to see pretty much anything when trying to nurse because i had a big bump in the way. even sitting on reception was not comfortable at all, with baby pushing up on my ribs!

that's exactly what a dentist did at our place soph, she is a workaholic though, worked until wednesday, had section on thursday! but then, one of our nurses planned on 37, worked until 35 weeks and then her baby decided she wanted to arrive on a sunday lol xxxx

I still have lots of holidays to take so I'm going to take 5 weeks holiday which takes me straight into due date. Then start my maternity leave and take a whole year off. I am stressing about how I will get back to work as OH works away half the year so hopefully they will let me cut my hours and maybe get a term time contract.
Let the countdown begin 10 weeks left at work . Yippee !

With school holidays, I have 9 working weeks left till I finish, but mat leave won't start till 1st September! I'll take till the week before Easter (30th March 2015) off, work 4 days, then have 2 weeks off, then work a term, with a 2 week holiday in between, and then have 6 weeks off before going back again September 2015! If all goes according to plan!

Happy 22 weeks to me and Amy Louise!

I'm working til the end of August, then taking two and a bit weeks of holiday so that my may leave doesn't start til before my due date on 16th September. Hoping that will be ok as it's just office work so I sit down all day, although may struggle to teach my desk with bump in the way! Didn't want to finish too early as wanted to save as much of my SMP for after baby arrives x

all sounds good to me!

just know it was very difficult and uncomfortable for me working later on, so between 33-35 is when i'll finish i think xx

I'm a Staff Nurse and will be going at 34 weeks, I work on a really busy ward and to be honest would be ready to go sooner but I'd rather spend longer with the baby after she's born and 34 weeks seemed about right really. I'll have around 9 months mat leave then another 4 weeks annual leave so I'll end up going 21st july and back in may so not too bad. It means I can spend the 6 week school hols with my dd before the whirlwind arrives in sept (providing she doesn't decide to make an early appearance!) I'm also looking to Christmas off as the past 2 years I've worked Christmas day xx

Oh my god, thats really put it into perspective for me... if I stop working at 34 weeks I've only got 10 weeks left. Eeeeek! Im self employed though, so whenever I go I have to start my maternity leave, I dont have any holidays to fill it out, but dont think I want to work any later than that. My job isnt strenuous anymore, but I already hate going there.

bit crazy when you think about it isn't it? ah bit rubbish. its all personal decision, hence why i'm finishing a lot earlier than everyone else seems to be! xx

hollysmummy, that sounds good - and how nice will it be not working christmas! xxxx

I went off at 35 weeks with dd, although by then I'd cut my hours down as was really struggling with the commute (30mins on train, then 30mins walk from station to office!) However I had 5 weeks holiday then mat leave officially started the day before due date.

I was planning to do the same this time around meaning I'll go off at the start of august sometime, but we're *hopefully* completing on our house (finally!) at the beginning of July so will need to take a few days holiday, and possibly work a week or so extra. Not too worried this time though as hubby will be off for school holidays, meaning no morning/evening rush to drop off/pick up dd! Plus we'll be in our new house :-)

Very exciting to be thinking about mat leave!!!!!

20 weeks today!!

Hope you are all keping well and not working to hard!! I worked this morning had to get up far to early for a Sunday - maternity leave cannot come quick enough!!

Anyone else based around the midlands thinking of going to the Baby Show at the NEC next weekend?

Sorry too far for me, have been a few times to the Education Show there and is a bit of a trek. Annoyingly there's one in Manchester but it's the weekend of my due date!

I brought tickets for the baby show yesterday, we're going on the Sunday. We've got all the big things for baby so just going for a mooch and to see if there are any nice little bits worth getting. I've been looking forward to going since I found out I was pregnant at New Year, hoping it will make it feel more real for me as it hasn't properly sunk in yet that I'll have my own baby to look after in 4 months!!!

I know it's a scary thought isn't it! I can see me with a baby, but when I think of OH, I can't picture him with one!!! He's never held anyone under 5 before unless you include the cats!!!

lol! ahh it will all come naturally won't it. oo i can't wait xxx

I keep changing my mind ref maternity leave, really can't do another week like I just have though. I'm only meant to do 24 hours a week and 3 shifts, but because of the rotas it can mean a hectic week followed by a few days off, but I think I need set shifts now. Otherwise I'm going to have to start my maternity leave earlier than planned.

I went on mat leave at 32 weeks with harry but that was with 4 weeks annual leave so mat leave actually started at 36 weeks. Hoping to stay until 37 weeks this time  but reducing my hours down to 2 day shifts from 28weeks. So could technically only have 7 weeks of 3 night shifts and I'm on holiday for one of those weeks :)

Happy 20 weeks kathy :)
Happy 21 weeks Nic and Soph :) xx

I cant believe how quickly its gone so far and keep thinking the next 4 months will probably go even quicker. Seeing as tri 1 dragged, but tri 2 has flown by. I guess the last few weeks of tri 3 drag though when you are really big and fed up!

I have painted the bedroom ceiling today, anyone else feel like they're nesting already? I seem to be constantly finishing off jobs around the house that have sat un-done and not bothering me for the last year haha, but now they drive me mad and I just need to do them!

me too vicky, it's gone fast up to now and i really hope it stays that way until the day baby is here!

thank you kanga. i'm sure knowing what you're actually going to be working would be a big help!

climbingrose, the last few weeks are definitely slow! yeah, the house is sorted as we are newly moved in. i only have a few bits of clothing left to buy for baby and we are done! even baby things are downstairs, more for the dog to get used to seeing and hearing.

xx
