Jason goes back to university in a week or so and i will be on my own with Ava-Mai so i want to start going to groups as soon as possible because i know i will feel lonely and i know no-one around here with a baby arund Ava's age or any other mums i could spend time with really!

I've found a young mums group thats on tomorrow but i am so nervous about going, i had to ask my sister if i was a young mum before because i just feel like i wont fit in properly.

Does or has anyone else ever been in the same boat as me??
Im 21 and i feel like im starting school for the first time, might just bunk off ;)

I started going to groups when my first baby was 6 months old...I was 21 at the time. I absolutely loved it, as all the mums were there for the same reasons! There's usually someone friendly who'll welcome you, so don't worry too much. I hope you enjoy it!

i'm the same. I really want to go to one as I'm not from nottingham and dont have many friends here :-( I'm not very confident at things like that though. Good luck! xxx

i grew up in this area but moved away for 3 years when i was 15 so im still pretty comfortable here im just not a confident person overall. :oooo:
Will update on how it goes tomorrow. :)

I really wanted to go to the baby groups. I just dont know what will happen there...I mean..will there be aload of women sat around drinking tea and stare at me as I walk in!? lol. I think this is why I havent gone already. Deffinately let us know how you get on! I need a bit of courage

I feel the exact same as you melio. i dont wanna go in as a newbie and everyone just stare and im stood there like a lemon!!! I do need to look for one though as i'm starting to feel a bit lonely in the day when Rob is at work :-(

I've been going to groups since AJ was 10 weeks and sometimes still feel like bunking off  and AJ is 22 mths now.

i went to a nurture group last week but luckily i had a friend to go with but i still felt awkward beacuse she already knew people. think i will feel better when i go this week as ive got teh 1st 1 outta the way. you could get your baby weighed and theve got things like a ball pool n loads of toys for them 2 play with

I never went to a baby group with DD tbh they scare the beejesus outta me x hope it goes well babe x

Get this - I went to a coffee morning/baby group at our local health centre when Grace was only a couple of months old and do you know I was the only one that turned up!! There was a lady there for support, help run the group etc I think she was a HV not sure and she was so apologetic and just kept saying "oh, its a lovely day out there today maybe everyone is out and about at the park or something". I felt like a tool to say the least! Never went back ; )

ar what a shame. did u find any other groups?

Where I used to live I was a little isolated, lived at the top of a bloody hill and I had to drive to get anywhere so I just used to visit friends rather than go to specific groups. There wasnt much going on in my area at all. I now live in another area and there is lots going on here and I am not isolated at all so will def be out and about all the time. Already have lots of local mummy friends :)

i ended up going to a young parents/ young parents to be group. i was so nervous walking in but made sure i was there dot on 1 o' clock for when it started so i didnt get the stares walking in!
Ava was the youngest baby there by around 4 months and slept for the 2nd hour after screaming through most of the first which gave me a chance to speak to the other mums. there was only 6 of us in total so wasnt too bad for me as i get soooo shy in situations like that.
After sitting with them for a matter of minutes i realised there are a few very bitchy girls which id rather not be a part of but overall were really nice to talk to :)

i am ging to go back every week if i can and im going to see what other classes are available. Im starting baby massage in december, very excited for that one!

i go to the new baby grounp around here, but all the mums are quite old! well late 20's, 30's.. me and Riley were the youngest ones there! oh actually there was a few new new borns. but yeah. those groups are deffo worth going! glad you ended up doing so. my OH works most days so it's great to get ou the house. it;s good for Riley to be sociable too. you should come to the manchester new baby group! hehe xx

if i lived closer i would!! :)
I didnt go to the group last week as it was my sisters birthday so feel liked ive missed a week of school. I get so nervous walking into these kind of things! xx

oh same here!! i let everyone know the week before though, as i knew i was going shopping so i feel i had a legitamate excuse  lol! xxx
