Hi everyone!

We have had the results of the Downs screening back and have been told our chance is 1 in 19,864. Just wondering how this compares to what other people have had, and if its considered low??

Thanks! xx

Consider it low hun, I had the screening done too and was 1/67 for Downs and 1/72 for Edwards, I went on to have the amnio and everything came back negative x

id say thats low :) so congrats. mine was 1/35000

:)

mine said it was low . . . 1 in 8000 chance, which doesnt seem so low now!!!

What??? My letter said mine is low but mine is 1/320 which seems pretty high compared to most of you!!!

xx

Anything less than 1 in 200 is considered high risk, anything else is normal

Anything above 1/200 is usually classed as low risk, in some areas 1/150 is classed as low risk. Each area seems to be a bit different.

I got my results of 1/170, and was bricking it, but decided against the amnio as wouldn't terminate whatever the outcome. I don't think I'd get the tests done with my next pregnancy as it didn't help me at all just made me stress out even more, and without the amnio or CVS you don't get a definate answer.

I had several problems later on and had an amnio at 28 weeks where th erisk of mc is minimal as if anything went 'wrong' they would just deliver the baby (which they were considering anyway). For some reason it took 2 weeks to get the Down's result as something had gone wrong with the first test they did. Luckily for us it all worked out well, but could have done without all the stress. xxxx

  i thought mine was really low.. and it is but not as low as some of yours mine said it was less than 1 in 10000..

You can't really compare your results girls as these tests are based on 3 things (possibly 4, depending on test type)
1. Your age
2. Results of Nuchal Scan (presence of nasal bone, blood vessels at umbilical, femur etc)
3. Blood results usually taken at 10 weeks (This depends on your area though)

Mine came back as 1/194 and was considered as high risk. I had the CVS which was a huge decision to make and was a pretty horrendous time for us. However, we paid extra for quicker results and got the all clear within 24 hours. :)

Mine were 1/1500, but my baby ended up with Hydrops Fetalis which can be caused by chromosomal conditions. He was all clear didn't have anything like that but was still poorly. Take these things with a pinch of salt they are so inaccurate! I don't know whiter I would bother in future - it didn't help at all!

Mine was 1/3900, my letter said i'd tested negative so that was good enough for me! :) x

I didn't get a letter, ended up phoning MW to ask but got another MW who told me I was low risk but when I asked the exact result (1/1000, 1/2000 etc) she said that they don't know that? :eh: xxx

I didn't have it done, my consultant even said that they're nt very accurate and can cause more worry.
