Hi all, not sure if this is the best place to post this but didn't want to put it on tri 1 as a lot of the ladies there haven't had their 12 week scan yet.
We had our 12 week scan at 11+5 and they measured everything and said all was normal but at he end the sonographer said that they couldn't find a nasal bone.
Now I didn't think anything of it but when I got home I googled it and an absent nasal bone can be a sign that your baby has downs syndrome. I'm now panicking! I have heard that at 11+5 it can be too early to see a nasal bone but just wondering if anyone has been told that there is no nasal bone but still been low risk for downs?
They said there are 4 markers for downs syndrome and the nuchal translucency came back normal at 1.9 and other 2 markers were normal so don't know whether this means chances of downs are low. To be honest I'm so confused and nothing was really explained at the scan.
Basically I just need to know that an absent nasal bone at this stage is ok!!
Any advice?

Thanks xxxx

No they haven't offered us another scan which makes me think that if they were concerned hen they would. I was thinking about going private as not sure I can deal with the worry. I do actually have what you might call a 'button nose' so maybe baby just has my nose!
Thanks for the link, looks like it may just be too early, or that the scanner wasn't looking properly!

Thanks again x x

If they were overly concerned they would have offered u another scan before 20 weeks I think it was prob just too early. As the other 2 markers came back fine then try not to worry

My baby had a thick NT and we were taken straight from the scan into see a specialist midwife. If they have a problem you will know ASAP there is no way they'd let you walk away. I think you need to ask your midwife what it means, they may offer you another scan a bit further along to double check. If you have any questions about the further testing feel free to PM me as we has a CVS test.
