Been to the docs twice they keep telling me to carry on with gaviscon which is fking stupid because it makes her sick which they told me was a side effect, but want me to carry on with it. She throws up an entire bottle and it's projectile, it comes through her nose aswell which makes her scream... anyway when I give her gaviscon she throws it back up, then obviously wants more because she has nothing in her tummy so is hungry still... then obviously Reflux plays up and she's cries for hours unless she throes that one up to. I stopped giving it her last week and she was ok for 2 days. Then the other day started playing up again and it's been so bad the last 2 days! I can't even leave the house for more than a few hours cos she's just crying when I put her down.
Going for her jabs tomorrow so will ask again for something else. If they won't does anyone have advice?
I sit her up for 20 mins after a fed, I hold her on me with her head on shoulder for as long as I can. I sit her up in her swing. :(

My baby was exactly the same with the reflux and screaming. Gaviscon was useless ,ask for ranitidine and if that doesn't work then omeprazole. What milk is she on?
Big hugs! I've been there..its bloody awful when you are scared to leave the house because of how long they scream for :( xx

We had moderate to severe reflux here so I feel your pain. Ours in the end was CMPA but we did need meds for reflux.

Ranitadine max dose was fine for us but that took a fight and going to a&e with videos of the episodes.

If it isn't cmpa and you are formula feeding you could try the anti reflux milk, or a milk thickener such as carobel which is meant to be good.

We just kept him up constantly and white noise loud but not blaring (just enough to match his cries and him take notice) got us through before we got anywhere with reflux meds and milk. And a dummy.

Be firm with GPS. Gaviscon worked for us but only as a milk thickener - on a pain and reflux front it was useless so we couldn't use it until he was a few month old without it bunging him up. Ranitadine was also useless at the smallest dose, we got max for his weight which at the time he was 8w and 5kilo so 1ml 3 x day. If that didn't work I was progressing to lansoprazole. That or omeprazole although I hear of sleep disturbances with omeprazole however equally work well for reflux.

Good luck, big hugs for all. Xxx

Has she been checked for tongue tie by a lactation consultant (not a GP or midwife as they aren't sufficiently trained to spot all ties)? If not, I would recommend contacting your local infant feeding support team and asking them to take a look or you can pay privately. Symptoms of tongue tie are fussing/crying during and after feeds, reflux, colic, milk dribbling from sides of the mouth when feeding, a clicking noise when feeding, noisy feeding and lots of others. Can your baby open her mouth wide? Both of mine suffered badly, my eldest in particular and we were being led down the reflux/gaviscon route which wasn't working and gave more issues i.e. constipation. St the end of my tether I paid to see a specialist and it literally saved my sanity and my lo's feeding issues resolved in a couple of weeks. If she hasn't been checked I would really recommend it before you try meds she might not need xx

If the GP is not much help tell your health visitor you want a paediatric referral

We had this, gaviscon was useless. We found cow&gate carobel in the end and it was a life saver. We will be getting some for this baby just incase he has reflux too.
