Pregnancy books

none really save ur money for jo frosts book ! haha i have one but lent it to sil ill find name out i had bout 20 and only one was any good!! :D il get back to u! but tbh i found the emma's diary and bounty books best lol xx

I got one off the midwife it has everything in you need to know about pregnancy xxx

I want one too that goes through what to expect at birth and then how to set a routine for a new baby....I have no clue about plugs and bloody shows or sweeps what the hell are these things and I know absolutely nothing about what to do with a baby once you bring it home!! I am definitely going to try to find some kind of instruction manual, lol - will let you know if I have any luck! xx

yeah the one you get at your first scan from midwife is a good guide but i also really like the netmums one - can get it from asda for about 4 quid - it tells you everything week by week and loads about birth and caring for a baby. It has loads of real stories and advice from pregnant women and parents from online forums too :-) x

I've got What To Expect When You're Expecting, can't remember who it's by but it's quite a famous/popular one. It's good, nice week by week info and covers most things.

yeah i like this one too but is quite outdated isnt it? i think it expects every pregnant woman to be a middle aged housewife im dungarees lol :) xx

To be honest, the only bits I've read is what to expect at whatever week I am lol, I keep meaning to read more...

I've got one written by Dr Miriam Stoppard and contains everything from pre-conception until about baby is about 1-2. Not too sure what it is called though

I got a good book for my oh called 'a bloke's guide to pregnancy' it has short, funny sections which are quite good as it is written from a bloke's perspective and oh likes it aswell.

I've got the Miriam Stoppard book too, and also a Week by Week one that's also a DK (not sure of hte author).

It depends if you want a negative view of pregnancy and birth or a positive one!!

IMHO avoid 'What to expect....' like the plague.

Read Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth if you want to look forward to and enjoy your birth.

Childbirth Without Fear - Grantly Dick-Read - heavy going but brilliant stuff.

Birth Skills - Juju Sundin & Sarah Murdoch

Birthing The Easy Way – Sheila Stubbs

It depends in you want a book that's going to help you get the best from your pregnancy and birth or one to tell you what week your baby is the size of a mango.....

My sister bought me that one and I thought it was quite nice for the whole 'what's happening this week' thang :)

Thanks ladies - I don't want something too technical; more what's going on week by week so these are great suggestions!

I may then have to scout ideas for books on what to do when you actually HAVE the baby! x

Both my mom and MIL bought me a copy of "what to expect when you're expecting". I've been finding it a good read so far, and nothing seems too out-dated. Just be sure to pick up the right edition of it :)

If you have a local bookstore, you may be able to find used copies of pregnancy books for CHEAP!

If you pop into your local library they will have a wee selection for you to look through for free  Then you can buy the one you like most to refer back too

dr. miriam stoppards i found was amazing she has loads but obv the preg one.... it has *actual size * of babies hand at diff stages lol i found myself stroking away  xx

I Have 'The Rough Guide To Pregnancy and Birth' by Kaz Cooke, i LOVE it... its like a diary that goes through week by week with measurement so you can see how big your baby is every week, i just read one chapter each week so i know what wil be happening with baby that week..a really easy read, and nothing confusing!! but it does have all the information you need.. xx
