I have posted in another group but hoping to have more luck here as pregnancy chat seems more popular.
Anyway, I had my son 4 months ago and was booked in for a smear shortly after due to being 26 and not having one previously.
It came back that I had high grade dyskaryosis and had to undergo LLETZ a few days ago to remove pre cancerous cells.
Apparently having the procedure can cause difficulty conceiving and carrying babies in future due to a weakened cervix etc.
I was wondering if anybody here has had the procedure and had any difficulties, or if pregnancies progressed as normal?
I am certainly not wanting to ttc any time soon but maybe a few years down the line.

Hello,

I have just joined the group to find out the answer to this!

I had CIN3 and LLETZ treatment in 2015 and I am currently 12+1. I had my first consultant appointment on Friday and they said I’m at high risk of preterm labour due to the LLETz treatment and my daughter was born at 36 weeks in 2012.

They have booked me in for an internal scan at 16 weeks as they want to measure my cervix and then make a plan from there. I will let you know how it goes.

I came on here looking for some positive stories

Congratulations on your pregnancy!! :)
I hope all goes well for you, please do keep me updated! I have not gotten my results back yet but have been sent for an appointment with my gp tomorrow so should find out then.
Did you have much trouble ttc at all?
I have read that they are likely to keep an eye on your cervix and possibly stitch it until term?
I had gotten worried about the increased risk of needing a c section also but thankfully most of the stories I have seen so far are quite positive and they still carried to term and had natural births :) I hope this is the case for you x x

There are lots of ladies who have successful pregnancies and deliveries after lletz surgery. The more problematic ones are if you’ve had multiple lletz procedures and have very little cervix left. With birth it’s a small minority of women who can’t deliver, the majority progress very quickly to full dilatation and delivery. X

Hi, I am currently 35+6 and have had 2 LLETZ procedures one in 2014 and one 215. At my 12 week scan the consultant discussed with me that because of my past procedures, my cervix is shorter than it was. He explained that I would need to go for regular internal scans and I may have to have a stitch which would be removed at around 37 weeks. I went for internal scans every 2 weeks from 15wks to 23wks to measure the length of my cervix. As it happened I didn't need to have the stitch as they were happy with the length of my cervix.
I know everybody is different but they do keep a good eye on you and depending on how much of your cervix has been removed in the past, depends on whether they do they internal scans I think.
It did take us 12 months to conceive, I dont know if this was down to my procedures or just one of them things.
Hope this has helped!! X

Thank you - that is very reassuring.
Ttc took about 18 months.
X
