Please Read - OBSTETRIC CHOLESTASIS

they need to test ur lft's & alt's & bile salts (but i think they fall under alt's  ). im not sure how it works, but it was a different coloured lid on the tube for the blood. i think they may have to take a different set, but they can take it at the same time (make sense?)

1st time around i had them taken with my 28 week bloods (and my gtt at the same time!!!).

problem is different hospitals/gp's/mw's different procedures.

ive got it this to i was told yesterday after itching like a bitch for 4 whole days :(
i know people tell me not to be scared but it does scare people because i didnt think anything of my itching i thought it was normal, im being monitored to look at baby once a week so got to go hospital again on monday for more blood tests i have it quite severe ive made my self bleed through the itching ive had to cut off my finger nails it was that bad :( there is no rash an there is no known cause. ive been given piriton which makes me really sleepy i crashed out bout 11 lastnight an woke up at 5 this morning when i had another dose i fell back sleep. Im hoping there catchin in time yes they found it but 4 days of itching nething cud of happened within them days of no one knowing.
they can deliever a baby between 34-37 weeks depending on how well its going with the treatment.
everyone says not to panic ya would when the docs bring ya in every 5 mins.
im still waiting for the anti natal class as i thought it was this month its not its next month and still not got me hospital bag ready yet because im not even sure what to put in it as im struggling.
Im not ready for all this just yet i should be doing things near the end thats why im scared xx

It's no wonder you're scared!! It just goes to show that a call to the mw if you suspect something wrong is definitely worth it - now it's been confirmed they can look after you properly and make sure both you and the little man are well. Have you been to this site? http://www.ocsupport.org.uk/

I'm sure both you and little man will be absolutely fine, I hope the itch doesn't become too unbearable, and I hope they keep a good close eye on you. x

Hi scaredmum2be I had it with my DS Jacob last year and I only found out when I went to the hospital and I was delivered there and there. I wish I'd been on this ofurm then as it seems so supportive. It is very rare to get it. My son is now a happy 16 month old. I was itching like mad for weeks, It was the palms of my hands and soles of my feet. My midwife never picked up on it when I told her until it got to the point where I went straight to the hospital for testing. I'm glad you have been given the right medication and will be given the correct monitoring. I hope you start to feel more comfortable soon. xx

the pain is unbearable to be honest :(
Im more worried bout the baby than myself to be honest got to have another blood test tmos and a scan.
My bile acids and wat not should be at 14 but its at 39

I was tested for it yesterday. I'm still waiting to hear. My itching is severe and even when dog tired I don't sleep - eventually I must fall asleep while scratching one foot with the other and vice versa. I make my hands bleed, scratching them, and my arms and legs are terrible. I'm always tired but I have fibro, and I'm hot hot hot but as mentioned in the first post, it's that time of year........ I'm also constantly thirsty and can make myself sick from drinking too much. No idea what that's about.

My tests came back clear, I'm just short on haemoglobin - which reminds me, I was meant to pick up my iron tablet prescription. Whoops.

Oh joy, more bloody pills.......................

I know I'm still well in tri 2, but I saw this when I was having a nose round a couple of months ago and I have a question.....

For the last couple of weeks I've been scratching like a crazy woman, all over my lower arms and legs, especially in the evenings and the last couple of days I've started feeling really painful itches building up on my hands and feet aswell.... Do you think I need to get it checked out? Or not? :/

Some advice would be great, thank you

Katie xx

HeppiBean I would get it checked out. I mentioned to my midwife yesterday that underneath my bump has been really itchy and I have a rash there now. I also have been itchy on my hands, arms and thighs. She took some blood just to be on the safe side and I should get the results today after 3pm. Best to be tested and safe xx
