P@@sed off with boots!

Lol I was the only person on my ward bfing and I was left too it.

I must admit I'm so jealous of the ff mums as they can get a break from baby, because someone else can feed them. Id love a long hot bubble bath!

I used to leave LO with OH and have a bath most nights and then spend time moisturising afterwards and drying my hair. Sometimes LO would be going mental for me but I knew he would be ok for a bit and OH just held him and comforted him until he could go back on boob.

It was tough in the early days, but looking back it goes so so quickly. It's such a small period of time and defo worth it

I expressed a lot so that I could have a nice bath. I had tonnes of milk in the freezer x

Ha chance would be a fine thing OH panics when he cries! He'd get brought into the bathroom lol.

I'm working on expressing he's just not taking the bottles ATM.

I've also noticed that newborn nappies never seem to be on offer?? Are we not allowed to put our baby's in unnatural coverings along with not ff them??

Its like anything newborn is never on offer.Itsbecause they know you have to buy it

When I was pregnant with Oscar newborn nappies were always on offer?

I need to start stocking up again really for when this LO comes along.

My OH used to be fantastic when LO cried, it's different now coz alot of crying is because of tantrums, but when he was newborn OH was better than me, I used to be in bits when LO cried, OH was always the calming influence!!

I've only ever seen them once! And that was when Asda sold them for £1 where we are every other size is but not the little ones.

Lilyanna wouldn't take a bottle from me and hv said its coz she knows I have another option for her which she prefers and suggested someone else feed the bottle.. Worth a try?

I've found newborn nappies aren't on offer when bigger sizes are its annoying!!

Defo stock up on nappies while preg I'd buy more size 2 than size 1 lily is till in size 2 now and grew out of 1 very quick!

Yeah I won't feed him I go out the room and OH does the bottle. I find Tyler 'play's' with the teat and occasionally sucks, so I'm trying to get OH to give him 0.5 oz a day just to get him used to it, the challenge is getting time to do it everyday.

In my antenatal classes we didn't cover bf once!! I was horrified!

On the ward the mw were very pressurising and then once they knew I'd fed her on my own once they didn't ask again. I was in agony and my mum was so supportive. She kept telling me it gets easier but with half of babies feed being blood and me in tears after every feed I still got no extra support.

I remember some posting months ago saying they should offer freebies and it's true! Some breast pads, some nipple cream and more leaflets etc I think it would help. People love freebies! Maybe some money off coupons for a pump or shields and things. It would make the world of difference for some people.

Agree augustmum. I had a very similar experience.
I'd fed before without problem (more luck than anything else as was unsupported) and because of that I was left to it. But I didn't know how to feed two babies at once???? Which direction should I lie them? What if one finished feeding before the other, do I disturb the baby still feeding to put the other down somewhere?? And so on xx

They was a lmidwife after delivery on the ward that helped me try to bf, they tryed all the time for 6 hours, then stipped her naked to 'wake her up' so she was on me screeming trying to feed then stopping after a minute and this was my first experience, after 7 hour they tryed to extract... an hour later still not a drop of milk... it didnt come through for three days by this time i had no choice but to ff, she wont take the boob now so i express and give her that as much as i can but mainly ff. So the fact that they are so shitty with ff makes me mad... what choice did i have it was the midwife that said the baby couldnt wait any longer for food.

In my eyes its like taxing chocolate because salad is best.

Someone who wants to FF is not going to change there mind because they don't get clubpoints. I think its pissing into the wind that idea. Maybe spending more funding on extra midwifes so they have time to help mums more for the first few feeds, everytime i have tryed to give her boob since and she has crys i just get upset that its me that let her down and didnt realise for so long. Its not a nice feeling and i dont need the goverment to remind me... like someone said there are worse things happening to children in the world.

Its not about the actual points, its the fact that the formula is exempt from the points and everything else isn't. And its the principle of the matter. Noticed a few ppl mention that they "agree with the points thing" None of us are stupid, we know BF'ing is best & dont want to be reminded of it when shopping. I dont need to be tought a lesson or pushed in the direction of BF'ing. BF'ing mums dont want to feel pushed out or strange when feeding in public & FF'ing mums dont want to feel the same when buying formula, it works both ways.

Every person who disagreed with the points thing are all breastfeeders! God forbid us FF'ing mums should get any sort of benefits from FF'ing, seen as we already have it easy eh!

And yes I agree all aids for BF'ing should be free, for example nipple shields/cream, they should be given out at hosp. TBH there is alot of help available in this area, from when my eldest was born (she's 7) til now. There is always workshops around here, its a shame they aren't available in other areas

First of all not every person who agreed about the points is a breast feeder - im neither as of yet.

And while yes, you shouldn't be punished, made to feel guilty etc about ff, I personally don't see why it should be rewarded when most people ff or bf agree that it is second best.

It's a government health promotion, and similar things are done in a variety areas across the world, including things like no junk food in schools, minimum alcohol priceing.

Like it or not bf rates in this country are terrible, and while some of that is to do with a lack of support, some of it is due to social attitude, and that's not gonna change if ff is 'advertised' as a glamourous alternative.

Totally agree but as pos said, dont like the whole nanny state thing, being told what is best/right ect. I'm smart enough (and so is everyone else) to make up my own mind & I duno about anyone else but advertising ect doesn't make any difference to me as I am confident in my decision.

Theres no question what is best, the govt's money would be better spent providing specialists in hosp's rather than thinking about what does/doesn't get points in shops, its rediculous.

Thing is though, advertising makes a difference for the majority of people. That's why is such big business. It's how most people decide, consciously or not, what version of something to use. And it wouldn't be remotely cost effective to advertise bf which is free in comparison to formula made by big multimillion pound companies. The only way to even that playing field is to stop formula being advertised.

Thats the thing, formula isn't advertised. The whole points thing is something different, Boots offers points for things you buy in their store, its a reward system for going to them, rather than superdrug for example who dont do points. You wouldn't even know that you dont get points for formula, there's no signs that say...you dont get points for this, therefore its kinda pointless, dont know if im making any sense
