My OH has suggested Poppy for our little girls name and I really really like it BUT I'm concerned that its not an 'adult name' if you know what I mean? So when she's in her 20's Poppy will sound silly. Am I being too picky? xx

I'm inclined to agree with you. I think it's a child's name. Plus it's the name my dog had been given before I got her.

I had an auntie poppy before she died a few years back and she was in her 70s!!! Its a lovely name :-) xx

But in 20 years there will be lots of poppys as it popular just now so won't seem a little girls name by then as they will be all grown up. Its like old lady names obviously weren't old lady names when they were little girls. I would just go with it if you love it now :)

I really like the name Poppy! I think it suits child/adult xx

I love the name poppy, I think it's a name that suits any age. that was in my top 2 girls names but think I'm using my other name for a girl Molly xxx

My Mum just named her kitten Poppy (She did ask me, sis and SIL if any of us would ever want to use the name for a little girl though!)

I like it and think it suits all ages?

Was just going to say the same thing :)

Thank you ladies! Will put it on our list of possibles and have a think OH is very keen I just don't want to get the name wrong...so hard!!

I have a nan called doreen and a nan called maureen and ohs are shirley, they sound like old people names not baby names, but back when they were children these were children names.. It just changes with the times, i think its a bautiful name x

My daughter is named Poppy. I think it's beautiful.

Poppy is perfect for either old or young - go for it

I love it. I think it's a name that grows with you. Can see a poppy all ages :) xx

In Greece poppy is a short for kaliopi.
Usually little girls are named poppy and the adults change to kaliopi that means sort of a beautiful.

My sister is called Poppy, she is 28 and the name suits her so well, she is has 4 children, and a real mother earth type character, really natural and flowery! I think Poppy is a wonderful name, and people grow into their names anyway, so all names suit you when you are an adult! xxx

I was having the same problem with the name Lilah. I was thinking it sounds ok for a little girl but older sounds a bit odd. In the end I just went with it because as the others have said a name sort of grows with you :) xx

Thanks ladies I'm swaying towards going with it, a flowery arty type might be quite nice for a daughter :) x

I agree too, it's better suited to a child.

It just doesn't have much authority to it and I honestly believe it would hinder someone hoping to be elected for an executive position xx

I really love poppy, I would actually have it but my close friend already used it lol
