Hi Ladies,

Well im new to all this and sort of confused by it all to be honest.

My DH decided at Christmas that I should come off the pill and we will see what happens, I was on the pill for roughly 14 years two different types but mainly for the last 9 years Cerazette. Ive read all the stories about symptoms about coming off it and how makes you feel preganant etc and had about all of them  but was expecting them. But despite coming off the pill around the 22nd Dec ive not had a period or signs of one (never really had them whilst on Cerazette but thats quite common with that pill)?! Im reading on various forums about ovulation dates and a whole load of terms I dont understand whilst, im not at the 'planning each session' stage im interested by it all, suppose I was a little niave in the fact I thought i would come off the pill and fall pregnant within a few months but it dosent seem to work that way obviously!

So my question I guess is whats all the pregancy terms mean and should i be waiting for my first period to arrive before we start trying or just go with the flow!

Thanks

Hi

I am also pretty new to all this. I came off the pill at the end of august and this is our first cycle of TTC, I am currently in my 2WW (2 week wait).

It is all pretty mind boggling isn't it?! I never realised how complex TTC is until this forum! Some ladies on here use OPKs (Ovulation predictor kits) to see when they are ovulating and therefore more fertile, I think there is only around 5 days a month where you are at your most fertile. After ovulation I don't think there is much chance of conceiving, this is why it is known as the 2WW. Ovulation on average happens 2 weeks before your period (known on here as AF).

Once your cycles become more regular you will get to grips with this! My cycles were messed up for around 2 months when I came off the pill, so I woudn't worry about you not having had a period yet.

Personally I would wait until the first day of your AF then you can start monitoring your cycles better.

Hope this helps?! There are many more lovely ladies on here that I'm sure can help you out even more than me!!

Good Luck and hope you get a BFP (big fat positive) soon xxx

Hi - welcome :)

TTC - Trying to Conceive
AF - Aunt Flo, the witch, period
BFP - Big Fat Positive
BFN - Big Fat Negative
OV - Ovulation
OPK - Ovulation Prediction Kit
FR - First Response
CBD - Clear Blue Digi
2WW - Two week wait
CD - Cycle Day

Think they're all the main ones x

Thanks for clearing that up a bit ladies :)

Well i guess i wont know my ovulation date until my period??! When it comes, tick tick tick..... Im a rather impatient person and when I have set my mind to something I want to do it straight away..... this I guess isnt something you can plan to the exact day! Some friends have concieved fairly quickly whilst others have taken upto a year. Each person is different I get that but its only since we've decided to 'see what happens' that Ive actually realised how excited I am at the possibility of having that little bundle.

I hate needles and being poked and prodded but guess thats all part of it and need to put up with it for the end result!

Hi and welcome to the boards.

I've just had a month off so I'm just getting caught up. :)

Hope you're on your way to tri 1 real soon ;) :dust:

You sound a lot like me maybe_mummy!! Let's hope we both get our BFP soon. Fx and lots of baby dust xx

Thanks for all the welcome ladies, well after looking further round these forums Im more confused! :)

Should i be waiting till the pill clears from my systems and have my first AF before trying? If we just carry on having sex when we want till AF arrives and something was to happen is that ok? Sorry if stupidly obvious question but just read on here people waiting for a while before TTC and taking folic acid etc..... I have a lot to learn!

Hey hun,

Welcome to the PF,be prepared to get addicted! :)

I think the doctors always say its best to wait until you've had your first AF and try and let your your cycle get back to normal before you try but if you get caught in the process then woo hoo that'll be great!

I am currently in my 3rd cycle of ttc after having my coil removed in sept and like you just wanted to let nature do its thing but cant believe how much it can get a hold of you so am now gonna order some OPT'S (ovulation predictor tests) as my cycle seems to be quite regular as i'm having 29 day cycles since having my coil out,so FX (fingers crossed) that'll do the trick.

I already have 2 little girls aged 8 and 6 and never planned them and after having the coil fitted for almost 6 years decided we would like another, never had AF until 6 weeks later, really thought I was preggers but there we are I suppose it is nice to no that my body is getting back to normal after the coil (as I didnt have periods whilst it was fitted).

Wishing you goodluck and hope you get your :bfp:

xxxxxx

Hey there
I was on Cerazette - are there stories about that particular pill then?
AF will return soon enough then you can get to know your cycles again - if you keep BD (baby dancing :BD: ) anyway then if you fall preg yay but if not then AF can come back and you can start seeing what's what.
I came off it in august and it's only now I'm sort of learning about my body. Everyone on here is just amazing and you'll be a pro in no time :)
I knew nothing before coming on here!!
Xxx

Again thanks for all the Welcomes! :)

Well I googled symptoms of coming off Cerazette and lot of women were complaining of pregnancy symptoms when coming off it (i dont know if this is the same for other pills) I was suffering some tiredness, mood swings, back ache, sore boobs etc I even did a test just to make sure but was negative.

Myself and husband have never been kiddie orientated and always maintained we would be child free but then things change I suppose and began to wonder if we would be missing out on the opportunity to have our own little family. My best friend has just had her first and seeing them together has confirmed what I was feeling she had a fairly bad time concieving along with a MC :( but she carried on and now has a beautiful baby girl. So....... we have decided to not tell anyone we are trying as dont want the pressure nor the 'I told you so' I guess we will get that when we do get pregnant but I will deal with that at the time. I feel like you did Sunnygirl seems I know nothing about all this and its a real eye opener.

I want to wait for a few months before i start weeing on ovulation sticks etc as we are not desperate but its becoming to be a hobby of mine now reading up on stuff, except the birthing part that can be left alone for now  dont wanna scare hubby to much with information overload so its great have a place now I can talk to ladies going through the same thing.

Yeah I agree maybe_mummy. I am addicted to this forum already!! I am constantly reading about stuff, it is fascinating!

We haven't told anyone we are trying either, I've not even told my Mum, which I always thought I would.

When I came off the pill I had typical pregnancy symptoms and I was too convinced I was pregnant and did 2 CBDs...BFN as you can guess!

2 of my friends are pregnant and I love listening to their stories, it's a truly amazing thing. 1 is due in less that 2 weeks and the other in May. At least I have their babies to look forward to meeting and enjoying before it is our turn!

FX for lots of BFPs in 2011 xx

Welcome to the forum x you will get your head around it very quickly!! I'm on cycle 2 I'm very impatient too but try not to get too disheartened about it all cos some unlucky ladies have been trying over a year!
I would suggest both you an hubby getting some vitamins on board to help zinc for hubby and folic acid for you x they are the main vitamins you need x
And enjoy the BDing x x

My mum bless her well shes going to be the worst! My sister has a niece and shes a single mum and has relied heavily on my mum and still does she looks after my neice nearly everyday and now shes at school my mum takes her to school and picks her up again so shes been fabby like that, but now everytime I see her she tells me how she needs a baby to look after. Its great cos I know she will be supportive but on the other hand I dont want to rely on her as much as my sister did/does and I think she will find this hard to accept. But again something to be dealt with at the time. :)

I should think myself lucky i suppose some people get through without any support.

Hey I'm new too and on my first cycle of trying! I am totally OCD about these things, so already peeing on OPK's and symptom spotting. I am one of those people who, as soon as I decided I want something, I want it RIGHT NOW! lol. I am enjoying enjoying sex again!
We haven't told anybody we're TTC either, I've told my mum that we're going to TTC soon, but she doesn't know it's happening right now haha! Since TTC I've been noticing sooo many pregnant women and I just can't wait for it to be our turn! FX we all end up in Tri 1 together (and soon!)

Yeah absolutely!! My Mum isn't really massively child orientated but even she keeps hinting at wanting a grandchild and saying all she wants to buy at Christmas are toys (we have no young children in the family)

It is soo exciting to think that hopefully one day soon I will be pregnant and will be becoming a Mummy and my OH a Daddy!!!!

Lots of baby dust to everyone! xx
