New BLW's - Share Here

I need to make cheese muffins! Yum!

It's so strange - I'm starting to Notice that there are some things Arthur won't really eat. Broccoli, he isn't interested in for example. He loves omelette though, and all fruits. Tonight I put a couple of things on his tray and he knew what was what and was reaching for the omelette, if he picked up something else
By accident, he'd put that back down and Go for the omelette again :)

I'll find the recipe i used for cheese muffins, very easy. I would use a cheese with a stronger flavour next time, we used mild cheddar, not that it made a difference to our little muffin monster though! Had an interesting nappy experience after roasted peppers and courgette!

We tried french toast/eggy bread for a brunch sort of snack today and it was a big hit! It keeps the bread really sturdy plus has a better flavour - will deffo be doing this again. Going to try some stuffed mushrooms later and Morroccan chicken out of the BLW Recipe book on Monday. x

Pizza toast from blw cookbook went down very well indeed, with Daddy too! When you are just starting out and they are having lots of things to investigate did you try and balance veg, fruit, bread, cheese etc over the day or a few days?

Ladies, there are few mentions of blw cookbook, where did you get one?

I bought mine in waterstones - it's by gill rapley.

Yeah, pizza toast and eggy bread are brilliant.

No, I give veggies at every meal, sometime he gobbles them up sometimes he's
More interested in the carbs. Tonight he only wanted the beef and cougette. That's the brilliant thig about this! They eat what they feel they need. I used to get really stressed if hed just had bread, for ex, but then took a deep breath and remembered the motto: food before one is just for fun!! Xx

we just borrowed our from the library as after a month or two we knew the recipes we liked and then just cooked whatever anyway x

I'm so, so happy we decided to carry on with BLW. Poppy is swallowing so much now, she has taking to it so well and really has the hang of it. She'll now chew (or 'gum' - still no toothy-pegs!) and swallow most of what we put in front of her.

She now has a full bowl of Organix Wholegrain Banana and Raisin Oat Porridge every morning, which I usually just spoon-feed her to be honest, but let her hold the spoon as I guide her. She used to just spit porridge out, but I persisted with it as I feel better knowing she's eaten in the morning. Breakfast (and when she has yogurt) is the only time we help her; lunch and dinner are 100% baby-led and we're slowly introducing more things and exploring new tastes.

I'm doing tuna fish cakes made with sweet potato and tuna in spring water (rather than brine, which is too salty) this week so I'm looking forward to seeing what she thinks. I was a bit worried about tuna but apparently it's fine if they have no more than two portions a week?

Sorry to come back to nappy-talk but her nappies are soooo much easier to deal with now that they're more solid! No leaks

I offer a cup of water with every meal in her Tommee Tippee cup which she has taken to fantastically - she knows to suck the spout rather than bite it, and she drinks the water which amazes me as she's so used to her bottle.

Ladies, i need some help. Yesterday i offered banana to lo but he couldnt quite grip it, kept slipping out of his hand. So i held a piece of banana and he was gumming it. The reason i did it is because he was screaming for it! He enjoyed sucking on his banana, not sure if he swallowed any.
What do i do to help him? He is very interested in food now, keeps trying to grab food i eat.
I split banana lengthwise into 3 pieces btw

Try rolling the banana in some broken up weetabix to make it less slippy. And, inthe early stages don't break it into 3, keep it whole but cut in half.

Thanks, will try today! I am so excited for him to explore himself

There were some black bits today in the nappy, looks like he swallowed some of the banana!

Yes I give half a banana, she worked out how to grip it by herself after a few tries. But I like the weetabix idea. On the subject of weetabix - I found giving Poppy this for breakfast to be a nightmare! Even with a drop of milk to moisten it, it just disintegrated!

Trying her with pasta for the first time tonight. We're having chicken and asparagus pasta gratin, so I'm going to keep some asparagus aside so she can have some of that on it's own as well, but once the gratin is made I think I'll just plonk of small potion of it on her highchair and see what part she helps herself to! There's, pasta, asparagus, chicken and cheese all in there so it will be interesting to see what she goes for.

oooh when they get into it it's so exciting!!! how did the pasta go lulu? and the banana knopk@?
It's def the best decision we made doing blw and we were umming and ahhing for ages!

ok so tonight emma has fish and chips! well sweet potato wedges and bits of haddock. i also mushed up some peas (more for the artistic effect really) but she wasn't so keen!

she actually ate the majority of it as well and am noticing that if she likes something she sticks it straight in her gob and eats it without playing with it first so its actually getting a bit less messy!

I nees to get weetabix tomorrow. I offered him banana cut in half but he still had trouble holding it. Instead he was grabbing my hand when i was offering it and gumming it. I can defo see he actually swallows banana, i guess its a good sign?
I will be making sweet potato wedges tomorrow, also have broccoli that i want to steam

Pasta was a hit! Poppy loves mealtimes now, she gets all excited and flaps around when I put her in her highchair - she can't wait to get the food in her gob!

I think it is so amazing to see the skills they have to feed themselves and watch them working out how to get different things into their mouths! So pleased we went down the blw route.
