Ok I love love love biblical names....ok not all of them but have always been fond of Jacob, Noah and Isaac etc. So when I came across Rueben (or Ruben) I completely fell in love with it because I've never met a Rueben before.

So can I have opinions please as we have short listed two for a boy.

Rueben James
Ethan James

I still love Jacob but because I over ruled OH's choice of Xavier he too through his weight around

We have a firm name for a girl....

Eva Rae

What do you all think...be honest :)

I LOVE Reuben (and know twin boys called Reuben and Gabriel) and it sounds lovely with Jacob.
I like Eva too but not fond of Rae. xx

I love Reuben and Ethan as they are my nephew's names :) lol xx

Thanks hon :) I really like the name Gabriel but not brave enough to put it out there as it is feminine sounding.

Eva is definitely her name if she is a girl. We really like Rae but some family member are also not fond so we'll see.

i love the name reuben for a little boy! x

I really like both names but the only thing with me is that Rueben sounds very very Jewish. It's a classic.

I know it's a biblical name but I do associate it more with the religion rather than the bible and I'd assume he was of that faith.

Unless you are Jewish of course in which case no problem using it :)

Love Reuben, and all biblical names but I'm biased!

My mum said the exact same thing!! My argument is tha Jacob is Jewish name but she said Rueben is very Hebrew and he may struggle with discrimination where as Jacob is more westernised. I see the point but because I don't think that way (I'm Christian) I don't see it as a problem. Does make me upset that there are still so many people that are anti-Semitic :shakehead:

My OH really wants Ethan but I have the MIL on side!! Baby is probably a girl after all this :wall2:

I LOVE Soloman!!! Do you call him Sol or do you make an effort to keep to the name? That's another thing, I don't want to shorten the name.

I looked after a Rueben years ago and he was the most cute and cuddly baby ever! We all called him Rueben the bear he was that squidgy!! :)

I'm not a big fan of Ethan though x

Yes Tara, he gets Sol and Solly but I still call him Solomon sometimes, I like having the option haha

I think Reuben is lovely. It will probably be shortened to Ben as long as you don't mind that. There are lots of Ethans at the moment so I think Reuben is a nice change. I'm a teacher and have taught hundreds and hundreds of kids over the years and I have never taught a Reuben yet! :)

I like all the names, I really like Reuben, I understand it's biblical origins but I don't feel it's overtly Jewish, there are lots of names that people use these days that come from different origins and I don't see an issue with it. I really like Eva but I'm not hugely keen on the name Rae. Possibly because I had a friend with that name (she was American - where I think it's more popular) but she turned out to be a bit weird - but that's just my association - everyone can associate some way or another with pretty much any name - the important thing is that yo and your oh like it.

Thanks ladies. OH does like Rueben but he prefers Ethan so I will have to show him why Rueben is better! Also the meaning of Rueben to me is lovely!!! It means Behold, a son – awwwww!!!

I don’t mind Ben and Rueben Bear is so cute!!

xx

Hahaha I'm getting second thoughts now but I still like it :) xx

Our boys name if we have a blue bump is Ethan James - been set on that before we started ttc our first baby x

love Rueben, and Rae! Not so keen on Eva as it's so very popular, but it's a lovely name.

One of my top 5 names was Xavier and OH didn't like it at all, funny your the other way round with your OH..
