Well, its taken me 3 weeks to get round to writing this, as I haven't been that clear on all that happened myself, but think I've put most of it together now!
So, on Sunday 15th July, went for a walk to try and get things moving as I was 4 days over due and getting fed up, and started getting sharp pains which I thought was the start of it all, so got in the bath, and they stopped, even slept all night, so knew it really wasn't it! All day on the Monday I felt fine, absolutley nothing happening, got to 10.30pm and I was knackered and so ready for bed when it all started (typical when you're so tired!!), but it started really fast, the contractions straight away were 4 minutes apart, and agony, so I knew Sundays pains were nothing compared to this! Called the hospital, but because I literally live a 2 minute drive away they told me to get some sleep (yeah, ok then!), left it another half hour and by now they were 2-3 minutes apart, so called them again and they said to go on up. OH called my Mum to take us up there as he doesn't drive, she lives 20 minutes away and magically appeared in about 10 minutes, naughty!! Between getting to the car and up to the hospital I must have had about 4 contractions, then another nice one on my way down to the examination room, when the midwife examined me she said I was only about 2cm dilated, so far too early for pain relief, even though by now they were every minute (wish they would listen to us, I think we know!!), eventually she gave in and "let" me have pethidine, but then told me it takes 20 minutes to work:shock:! Not amused, so got OH to go and get her again to let me have gas and air, even then she wasn't keen and suggested aromatherapy, I can't be sure, but I think I may have told her where to stick that!! Silly cow gave in, which helped me loads, then as I was having a contraction (now 40 seconds apart, but still not very dilated) she was trying to find LO's heart beat and was struggling, cue panic from everyone, I managed to get up on the bed and they found it, but it was dropping really really quickly which scared the crap out of OH who ended up having to leave the room when all the doctors came running in, as it was too much for him, I was strangley calm, but aware they needed to get her out ASAP! The doctor then explained I would probably need an emergency C Section, if her heart rate didn't pick up, lots of forms to sign etc, but just thought get on with it! He then broke my waters as this still hadn't happened and I had meconium so then they got on with it as LO was clearly distressed. OH really didn't want to come in which I was fine with, so my Mum said she would instead, next thing I remember was being wheeled down hospital corridors and my Mum literally having to run to keep up, she was sent off to change into scrubs, I was in a room which felt like there was loads of doctors in there, they said to me there was no time for an epidural as LO's heart was dropping so quickly it wouldn't take effect in time, so had to be put to sleep for the section which also meant nobody was allowed in with me!
After all that drama my gorgeous daughter Sienna Mae was born at 2.36 am on 17/07/12 at 40+6 weeks, but I never got to see her until about 7/8am due to the op, so OH had to have skin to skin with her for her first few hours! Quite sad I didn't get to see her being born, and it took so long to meet her, but it had to be done or we might be in a different situation right now.
Found out while I was under I also hemorrhaged and lost just over a litre of blood, so was stuck in hospital for 2 days and sent home with loads of medication, first couple of weeks weren't easy at home, but luckily OH had 3 weeks off work and has helped so much, don't think I would have managed otherwise! Bit of a long one for such a quick labour, fingers crossed the next one isn't quite so dramatic!

Wow, sounds like an ordeal, but so pleased that everything turned out well and that you and your baby are safe and sound. I hope you enjoy every moment of your mummy hood.

Oh dear :hugs: what a scary time you had! So glad all is ok with you and your LO. Congratulations hun! :D x x

Wow hun that is scary, the same pretty much happened to me although I wasn't with it enough to sign my op forms, don't even remember it going down the emergency route until I was wheeled into theatre. Luckily though my Harry's heartbeat came back up so got to have my section with a spinal rather than a general but it was close.

I still feel quite traumatised by the whole experience and feel cheated and bitter about the ordeal. I think it will bug me and I am always thinking about what could have happened if his heartbeat didn't come back up. Best thing to do is to talk about it to everyone and not to bottled up any of ur feelings about it all.

Enjoy ur little girl and congratulations xxx

Oh gosh Hun that's mad how quickly that happened. Congratulations & your oh sounds fab for being off looking after you. I would be sad not having the initial skin to skin but least oh did it and all is well. Congrats again!xx

Wowzer that does sound scary! Glad both of you are ok now. Congratulations :D.

Congrats! Similar to my traumatic experience. Sorry you didn't get to see your LO being born :( xx
