gonna try some bricks i think then  xx

thats how those big maternity pads feel though don't they nikki :rotfl: as if you have brickes in your knickers

I have some maternity pads what my sister gave me, I think they r like the bricks your talking about lol.

I had to have something simular when i had a miscarriage, they were massive things that slid into a little slot in them paper knickers they give u lol...bloody slid everywhere else too! But the gyno's assistant put me my pad on after the internal...so my dignity went out the window...um...sometime last year lol.

How many do u recomend taking with you?

They do budge and it's hard enough to walk for a couple of days without a brick between you legs :rotfl: ,gonna take a whole pack Jade :D xx

I'm surprised the majority of you went for maternity ones to be honest! Not saying you're all worng of course, I just couldn't deal with that between my legs. But then I didn't bleed that heavily, that or the santary towel did its job and held it back. I think I bled more on a night time when I had a period before having Damien (they are much lighter now).

As for how many, I took a double pack of night time ones, but only used about 8 of them at a push and then went onto light daytime towels, then to panty liners pretty quick. So I'd take about 10 big ones at least and see how you get on.

I have got a big pack of bricks and a pack of ultra thin maternity pads :)

Gonna get some normal pads too just incase i don't like them as i have never used them before :D xx

I've got the Mothercare maternity ones and have also bought the always ultra absorbent night time pads too. I'm taking both as I figure I'll just sup it and see.

I am always so so heavy so for hospital I have got some Maternity pads & also some night time extra thick period pads, this is going to sound a bit stupid but what happens once the placenta and everything is delivered do the midwifes bugger off so you can put a pad on or do you do it infront of them?

They left me there sat in my own blood and crap for 2 hours, then i aske hubby if i could have a shower - after being in labour for 19 hours i was a tad sweaty!! so i stood up.... and almost fainted... they failed to mention how much i would bleed as blood ran down my leg and started forming a large puddle at my feet.

I would certainly mention a shower, as before i'd even sat in the bath it looked like mass murder - sorry if TMI!!

I used maternity pads but next time i think i will just use thick might time ones as they are more absorbent.

urghh thats disgusting did u complain? that cant be proper practise? i would of gone nuts at them, a few days later when i had the energy of course...

I've got some boots maternity pads i bought before i left England and ive got some always ultra night time pads too. Im gonna take a packet of each since im supposed to be in hospital for four days minimum!

i dont really care about what i use anyways as long as it keeps the blood at bay lol...

i couldnt be one of those women who wears nothing during their period... :puke:

yes  i read about it a while ago....

ppl wont wear pads or tampons, but they insist on wearing nothing, and doing s*it loads of laundry!!!

It's not like they r tested on animals lol...although my sister puts a pair of knickers and a pad on her staffordshire bull terrier when she's in season haha!

It was different for me as I had a section so didn't need to worry about comfort down there, but I only took Always nighttime pads in with me. I took one pack, and left 3 more packs at home in a carrier bag with some more big granny knickers in case. That way, DH wouldn't have to worry about going shopping if I needed any more, he knew exactly where they were.

I thought I should mention what happens though if you should end up needing a section. This may be different in other hospitals, but it is what happened to me. They have to put a catheter (sp?) in before the op, so they don't let you wear knickers or walk for 24 hours. So you are sat in bed after the op on an incontinence mat with a thick sanitary towel stuffed between your legs and a tube carrying your wee to a bag under the bed for all visitors to see!!!! When your FIL calls the mw over to whisper to her that the bag looks like it's going to overflow - that's when you realise you've lost all diginity!!! :rotfl: I had Charlie at 10.36am Thursday, they removed my catheter at 6am the following day, but wouldn't let me get out of bed for a shower until I had eaten breakfast. Once I had, I was able to shower, put on knickers, an always pad, and I felt much more human. Oh, but they did give me a bed bath at about 9pm the night I had him so it wasn't too bad.

Maternity pads!!! They soak up so much more blood... sorry ladies TMI

I bought some thick period pads last time and some maternity pads and found the period pads did nothing. I was having to change them every 30mins to an hour

Ive bought loads of cheap maternity pads from tesco :cheer:
