Was just wondering what you girls are gonna use  . I have always used normal pads for heavy periods after giving birth as my mum said that maternity pads are rubbish (was a long time ago though :D ),not sure what to use this time, might just stick with my 'always' what you girls got :D xx

ive got these hammock things lol there huge! there maternity pads

but if i dont like them i will send other half to get some different ones :rotfl:

I had an episiotomy and lots of stitches and I'm still in maternity pads.

They're so much thicker it's like sitting on a cushion and much more comfortable even though I don't really need the absorbency anymore.

Even if you don't end up with stitches you'll probably be a bit sore for a few days. :?

I used the always ultra thin night time pads they are much more comfy than a great big wedge in ya knickers, They are very long and ultra absorbent much nicer i think xxx

I am always so so heavy so for hospital I have got some Maternity pads & also some night time extra thick period pads, this is going to sound a bit stupid but what happens once the placenta and everything is delivered do the midwifes bugger off so you can put a pad on or do you do it infront of them?

Yeah i think i will try maternity ones this time if they are more padded, like to be comfy :D ,which brand have you gone for? xx

They put it on and then keep coming and checking it  xx

When i had the boys they gave me a quick clean up and placed a maternity pad between my legs and covered me up, then they left me to have a shower or bath and clean myself up properly xx

 I think i'll be more embarrased of that than anything else  worried now lol (being silly but i worry about the most stupidest things)

There is no dignity involved hun :rotfl:
By the way if they offer you a bath don't have one have a shower. I made that mistake with my first, soon as i sat down in the bath it looked like someone had been murdered in it (sorry if too much info there but it wasn't nice :shakehead: )xx

Ive got the always ulta night time. £1.35 buy one get one free in wilkinsons!!

I think I'll just stick with them even though my friend said sainsburys and tescos own ones were good.

xx

Its not stupid hunny just the unknown, no need to be embarassed after youve given birth by then you will be so wrapped up in your new baby you wont care  xxx

That's what I used too (Always Ultra Night time), no way was I going to have half a sofa wedged between my thighs!

Always are just as good and much more comfortable. Used a maternity pad once and took it off again 20minutes later, it was horrid.

After I had Damien, then just layed these sheets under me, with a cotton bit I sat on, and the other side was a plastic swheet. I had my own pads so just sat one of them under me till I'd had a shower.

I use Boots own. Big, cheap mattresses, I love them! :D

I would recommend using maternity pads, I thought the Mothercare ones were the best.

I had to use a shed load before LO was born as my waters broke early, they just don't stop coming once they've broken.

I also used the boots ones, they're OK but I preferred the Mothercare ones.

Why not buy maternity pads and thick sanitary towels and see how you get on. I didn't bleed too heavily afterwards but that's probably because I lost nearly a litre of blood during the birth.

They do keep checking your pads, honestly though, you won't be bothered at all. By that time, they'll have seen everything!

i have bricks for just after having the babythen ive got heavy flow normal maternity pads. I don't bleed a lot anyway usually.

I'd recommend maternity pads for the first couple of days then normal ones. I bled so heavy after Aimee normal ones just wouldn't do and i had to wear 2 maternity ones at a time. Not very comfy! I agree about the bath thing too. Definatly shower after the birth if you can. I had a bath and it was not very nice and when i had to stand up when i was finished it just went everywhere.
