Can you get one if your working? I get working tax and child tax credit, and we earn 19k a year between us? Dnt think I'm entitled to it but wanna make sure as if I was cud really use the money for the new baby

I'm not sure Hun but didn't want to read and run. I'm entitled to it cos I'm on income support, I read somewhere on here that some get it if theyre on tax credits but I know very little about it. Have you checked the direct gov site? Just type benefits into google and it should come up.

Yeah u should get it...me and dh earn 20,000 combined and qualified for it x

yeah so long as you get above the family element of child tax your entitled but you need to reach 29 weeks before (i think its) 11th april as they are changing it to 1st child only so after then you wont get it because its not your 1st child so im going to try and get the forms in before the cut off date and just cross my fingers haha

Really emma?? Just thought though its my second child and they have changed it now ant they sayin u cnt hav it for ur second?? But there's like a 7 year age gap :/

yeah they are changing it but not till april :)

i have no idea i have never claimed it before, but midwife reckons i am entitled to it and have been with all the others too late for them, if you get tax credits above the family rate you can get it, but i have no idea what i get (i know what money i get lol) midwife told me just to get the form signed the worst they can say is no. my husband earns 13,000 a year and i dont work.

you should get it mom you can claim it from 29 weeks so claim it :)

I was wondering about this as I'm a student and don't work anymore so my hubby earns 16k a year and I'm not earning but students can't claim benefits so looks like I won't get it even though our income is only 16k :(

you could claim after baby is born once you get child tax credit if you get child tax at the higher rate

i just checked my tax credits letter i get £547.50 and it says basic, so dont think i get it, i will apply anyway

just apply the worst they can say is no im going to even though ive had it before might just get it in before the changes take place :)

according to the website the family element if 545 so if you get more than this a year then you should get it x

I'm just guna apply anyway like you sed can only say no!

you should get it because you reach 29 weeks before the changes take place

So I could get it after the baby is born then? I suppose I need to have a look what we might be entitled to as every little will help :)

i thought it was the 5th april is it the 11th now?? i think i miss this by a week or so as this is my second x

ill be 29 weeks on the 23rd April but ill still be applying for it, its crazy they should just say all baby's born july 2011 get it, and there after u only get it on your first, as people can go overrrrrrrrr or can av there babys earlier as ur due date is just estimated, but hey x

i think its the 11th but i reach 29 weeks in march i think i will have about 3 weeks to apply for it, they say if you have had it once then the big stuff should be already bought and as most people keep there things for the next baby they dont have the added expense i only figured out i might get it by reading on here because when i found out i was pregnant i thought the changes came in place jan 1st like the in health grant thing
