*March and April mums and babies*

Milania Andraya-May 24/2/15 xx

In hospital they said it was only small but I saw it straight away. Saw bf specialist who said it was about 75%, he couldn't get his tongue out. Just couldn't believe how long nhs wait was!
How did your weigh in go?? X

Our weigh in went great. He's only 100 g off birth weight at 9 days. We did have to top up with formula thoigh. Feeding is slowly improving but he is still slipping a little. All the comfort sucking is a bit sore but we will get there :)
Went to a sling meet today and did my second public BF :)

Will go and add the rest of the babies :)
Our weigh in went okay today as well, Oscar managed to put on 20 grams since yesterday, so really pleased with him. Midwife was happy with me to go along the combi feeding route and gave lots of advice. He only had an oz of formula so he's not too far off :)
James is gorgeous Olya :) love his middle name too!
Xx

I hope I get to join you all. I am due 22nd April, however gave birth at 40+16 last time.. if same happens again I'll be a May mummy! Fingers crossed that this baby is more prompt!

That's great Cakey!
Spin sugar it's hard work isn't it. I'm hoping to avoid formula top up,did try and give zach expressed milk from bottle but he wouldn't take it! Loves the booby too much!
He is attached to me today, been cluster feeding this evening, going on every hour!if this doesn't get my milk going I don't know what will!
Rooster +16 is a long Wait!! Hope you go sooner this time. X

Lovely to hear from you all ladies.

Nik sounds like you are having similar struggles to Reuben and I. We're actually investigating tongue tie as well a day going privately because on the NHS website it says only a health professional can refer him and we might have to wait 6 weeks to see the specialist! So my mum has found a tongue tie expert in the county and it's actually someone she knows who is coming to see us on Sunday, and if he is tongue tied she will divide it there and then. If he is tongue tied hopefully this will be a solution to his feeding issues and if not, it's one more thing to rule out as a possible problem.

Reuben lost 9% of his weight on day 5, on day 10 had lost another 40g and on day 12 had only gained 20g. So now we're on a feeding plan and have been told to top up every feed with 40ml of formula OR expressed milk if I have enough. Well I'm doing everything in my power to avoid formula so I'm feeding and pumping and feeding and pumping and so far have been expressing enough to not have to use formula but it is hard work!!!
Reuben just isn't feeding efficiently, but his latch is good and you can see he's doing the work so there has to be something else the matter. He's also pooing and weeing normally so if he's getting enough milk there may be further issues which is stopping him getting the nutrients from the milk. Will have to wait and see what happens when he's weighed on Sunday.

I was really upset at first but I am doing everything in my power to give him what he needs so I'm trying not to feel guilty. Just doing what we can and hoping for the best.

Oh and can we be added to the list please - Reuben Peter born Saturday 14th March :)

Podpie I can't tell you how much easier feeding has been since we got his tt cut. I no longer dread every feed and my nipples are getting better.
I probably haven't pumped enough but we have another weigh Monday then next Friday. If Monday doesn't go well I'll have to express more and try to get him to take a bottle in the hope we will be back to birth weight and discharged by mw on Fri. For saying it's the most natural thing in the world it's not easy!
How are everyone's babes sleeping? Zach hasn't been too bad so far touch wood! I'm getting a good 4-5 hour stretch at the mo from 2am ish then a feed and back down for a couple more hours. Getting him down for the night is the hardest part.
Xx

I'm getting a 4 hour sleep from midnight ish onwards and then another couple of hours once he's fed and fussed after that. Except last night when he was up til 2 and up at half 5 and then we had to be up for the health visitor at 10 lol. Not helped that I'm needing to wake him every 3 hours to feed and then pump as well so naps don't really fit in!

We're still taking it in shifts in the sofa. This way at least one of us can always get a good night's sleep. Every time we've tried him in our room he's just fussed for hours and kept us both awake. At least in the lounge we can watch TV while he sleeps on us or I'm feeding him. He's not been down in his basket all night tonight...normal?!

I'll add Reuben to the list Podpie :)
I really admire you ladies for persevering with breastfeeding, in a way I wish I had but I think my own emotional state would have taken a nosedive if I did, plus Oscar just gets so upset every time he has a booby in his face and I don't want that. Hats off to all of you :)
Oscar sleeps really well, he's so content. He's also good at waking me up when it's been 3 and a half hours since a feed, sometimes I'm so knackered I just sleep past my alarm! My OH is finding it so tough to wake up in the night so I don't see the point in waking him, I get enough sleep and I'm happy doing his bottles. This morning he had a nice cuddle with Oscar whilst I had a sleep which really helped as well. I think he feels guilty for not being able to stay awake in the night to keep me company but he more than makes up for it in other ways, especially seeing as I nearly broke his hand in labour lol. How are everyone else's OH's coping? Xxx

I agree, I think everyone has to do what's best for them, I tried to breast feed my first baby but I ended up with an infection and just couldn't cope with it, made me really sick so he ended up on the bottle and so did the rest of my boys including Oliver now, I did feel awful at first but they have all turned out just fine as my first has almost finished UNI now :D

Oliver is quite hard work at night time at the moment so when hubby has a day off he takes the night shift for me thank god because I can't nap during the day with a 3 year old running around, I just feel like a zombie :oooo:

Would love to see some more pics of your LO if you don't mind sharing that is :D

Oliver at 5 weeks old

He has his 6 week check up next week, can't believe he is almost 6 weeks already!

Well zach slept for 6 hours last night! I'm glad of the rest but almost wish he had woken for a feed...

My oh has been fab. He has done a lot of the night shifts but goes back to work on Monday. :-( so we'll see how that goes.

Here are some pics!

Ahh Zach and Oliver are both handsome little dudes! I'll post a couple more pics of Roobs soon but I'm typing one handed at the moment while he's boobing so it's a bit tough lol.

My OH is being fab. Reuben and I have established our own routine in the night and I'm getting fat enough sleep so I don't feel the need to wake up OH, but he's been great at taking him after his morning feed so I can get a bit more sleep. Naps are almost impossible at the moment with all the feeding and pumping so any opportunity to sleep us much appreciated!!

I'm going to miss him when he goes back to work on Monday :( and I know he'll miss Roobs which makes me even sadder.

Chrissie, Oliver looks so alert and lovely! He has lovely hair as well :)
Glad Zach had a good rest last night Nik, he is gorgeous :)
Here's one Oscar in his outfit today and one from yesterday, he's a chunky boy but even newborn seems massive on him.
