Luteal phase defect?

Hi all,

So I’ve been going through my charts and I’ve noticed I have a lot of spotting during my luteal phase, it’s normally about a week before my period, can be 3 days, and enough to warrant a pantyliner or less and last for longer, sometimes for the full week until af... we are coming into month 6, my cycles are relatively regular, about 32 days give or take and we’ve had no luck apart from I had a cp last month.

I’m wondering could this be a sign of a hormone deficiency? Or is my lining not good enough? And if so is there anything I can do to help? I already take seven seas trying for a baby supplement and try to eat healthy.

Thanks ladies

I had this problem for years and years. I’d spot from 5-9 days before af. Had my bloods taken on day 3 and 21 all was ok. Doctors kept telling me it wasn’t an issue it was so annoying. I had a lap showed Endo. But I got my first positive pregnancy test a few days ago. I swore my lining was shedding early. Have you had bloods taken to check hormone levels?

Thanks Liz, I’ve not had any hormone tests done as I’ve only been trying for 6 months and I think the nhs need a year? I had a lap 18 months ago because I was having stomache aches and nothing came up so I don’t think it could be Endo but as I was on the pill, something like pcos might not have shown up?

Do you think it is worth trying to see my gp now?

Congratulations on your pregnancy xx

Thank you Hun. Just shows it can happen even when you spot. I went to my gp at 7 months. They were happy to do my bloods. You could tell a white lie say it’s been a bit longer. It seemed to be something that no one thought was a big issue. Kept getting told it wouldn’t affect me getting pregnant x

I think quite a few women spot before their period. I don't think it's an actual luteal phase defect. I was spotting for a week before mine but my BMI was too high...since I got it down that stopped.

Thanks Sunflower, I wouldn’t be too worried if it wasn’t quite so heavy, more like a light period than spotting as enough to fill a pantyliner. Hopefully it’s nothing to worry about, just annoying!

Did you spot the month you got pregnant Liz? X

Yep unfortunately but I’m getting strong lines which I’m trying keep positive about x

Maybe get it checked out then in case your hormones are out of balance.
