Lol, BNP list leaked online

I saw that last night! I didn't look at it in detail, but searched for Dundee and found quite a few just on that first page. Also, I noticed some entries were in the tiniest font I have ever seen. When I zoomed in (I was really curious by then), it stayed small! The only reason I could tell it was actually writing is because I did ctrl-f to find Edinburgh and my computer highlighted it in there. Now I am really curious as to why some of the entries are like that!

I dont think that people in the BNP/vote the BNP would be too bothered by this..after all it is their choice of vote.

I know. Well, that is what you would think and memberships aren't anonymous for parties in other countries, but if you look at the comments on the online news articles, you will see that they do mind. They are upset and scared of what it will mean to them. Hmm, I wonder why. :?

I had a chuckle to myself over this earlier. Especially the people who are devastated because they could lose their jobs for being BNP members, my heart just bleeds for the fascist bigots.

Just checked my town, only one facist here which surprised me.

:? I dont agree with them but I think its a bit harsh for them to be named and shamed for their opinions. :talkhand: Why bother having a democracy where everyone can vote if its only 'acceptable' to vote for certain parties.

Bloody hell, in my family voting Tory is the worse thing in the world!

the guy who was named on the list in my area won't mind as he was stuffing leaflets through the door asking us to vote him with a lovely family photo and a speech bubble coming out of his little boys mouth saying "my daddy's not a racist".

If someone published a list and my name was on it for my political views I wouldn't mind as I am proud of them but then I don't spout hatred and lies about other groups.

I find it hard to believe that anyone who was a member of the Tory Party or the Labour party or even the Monster Raving Loony Party would be ashamed or bothered about people knowing they were.
The BNP have nothing to do with democracy, they are a right wing, fascist, bigoted party who only get the right to spew their filth because we do live in a democracy. There is a reason certain professions can not be members of the BNP, i mean honestly would you want a police officer to be a card carrying BNP member? How could that person be trusted to make rational and fair decisions if race became an issue in an arrest? I think its perfectly acceptable for them to be named and shamed especially those who should have had more bloody brains than to join up to begin with! Id quite like to know if the person teaching my child is a right wing Nazi, it would very likely sway my choice on the school i sent her too.

On a separate note i wish to God we would get rid of that bloody talk to the hand smiley, its over use by some people is beyond rude and if it was done in a face to face conversation the person doing it would likely end up with a slap.

I agree in some cases BUT the other use for it, (as I see it anyway) is as a kind of "no way" comment

My OH asked me if I wanted a tripe sandwich! EW! :talkhand:

On the other hand, I think the roll eye smiley is by far the worse one for rudeness.

Back on topic now (sorry) I think if they feel strongly enough about they views to have their name on a list then they shouldn't be worried when the list is made public.
There are children's names on the list though :? Like 12 and 13 year olds... what parent would sign their kid up like that?

They wouldn't be a Nazi- they'd be a member of the BNP.

And why would it affect your decision to send a child to that school. I was taught by male teachers, female teachers, Jewish teachers, Muslim teachers, gay teachers and straight teachers- that being their personal life it was never an issue. My RE teacher was gay and yet he still managed to teach me about all the religions that completely go against HIS beliefs; and I ended up with an A. Just because he believed them to be wrong didn't mean he taught us that- I dont see how someone political beliefs could affect them teaching a child how to add up or spell :?

A close friend of mine is an active member of the BNP- I'm not. Not once has he tried to sway me into joining. One of our joint best friends is asian AND a flaming poof so I dont think he can be blamed for being racist or homophobic. :shakehead: Its not just a simple case of lets deport anyone who isn't white they are a bunch of people who have their own opinions on why this country is such a mess.

:shhh: You should never talk about politics- it only opens a can of worms.

I wouldn't be allowed to have been in my job and be a member of the BNP, and too right. I would feel very uncomfortable about my children being taught by someone who believed so strogly in the bnp they joined the party.

and re the smiley, it depends on how it is used. I use rolly eyes a lot but never at other members, as that is childish and rude.

Im well aware of what the BNP is all about, and your right its not all about deporting everyone who isnt white it actually gets worse than that! I wouldnt willingly expose my child to someone who held those beliefs therefore i wouldnt want her teacher to be a BNP member, simple really.

My opinion is split on this, in one way I agree that they should be named and 'shamed' especially those working in the police etc. On the other hand it doesn't sit easy with me as i'd hate to think of someone getting attacked because their name is on the list :(

I disagree with the kids being on there (though what type of parents sign their kids up for that, I wouldn't even sign my kids up for a mainstream political party let alone such an extreme one). I don't think there will be many attacks, just a few people traipsing to the job centre.

I think the BNP are odious. I also think the Socialist Workers Party and Respect are pretty nasty too (there are various shades of bigot imo). However, I would defend the right of people to vote for whoever they want and voice their opinion, however distasteful they are. Its a democratic country and when only people with the 'correct' opinons are allowed a voice then we head in the direction of Stasi type control whereby people are afraid of having their own opinions in case they are vilified for not thinking according to the 'party' line which, imo, is the antithesis of democracy.

but no-one has said that people shouldn't be allowed to be in the bnp, just that they shouldn't be hidden about it.
