:) January 2018 Mummy's thread

Literally lost all use of my stomach muscles. Every bit of moving while sitting or laying down feels impossible

I had a fetal artery doppler scan today with my consultant. Lovely and reassuring that everything is looking good with baby and blood flow. But they still can't tell baby's gender for sure! Only another 5 weeks to wait until the next scan but I think my Mil will drive me round the vend before then, thinking we're keeping secrets!!
Unfortunately our youngest has developed croup, I'm preparing for a long night!!!

I'm starting to feel stronger movements now, so exciting! We're booking a 4d scan for a few weeks too, when I'll be 25 weeks, I had one at 29 weeks with my 3rd son, hope it's not too early, I'm sure it'll be great. We have our NHS scans from 28 weeks, but I know they'll be for medical reasons (which is much needed and we're very greatful), but we just wanted this for us. Still staying team yellow! Although it's tempting! I've been feeling fine, I'm not anemic (yet) so that's great news. If it stays this way I'll be tempted to be thinking its a girl as I've been terribly anemic with all the boys!!! :/ only joking, I'm trying not to guess but it's hard! Nice to see some more gender reveals for the blue team!

Can you believe we're close to tri 3???? :)

Eeeek close to Tri 3 - unbelievable! Time is going so fast.

I'm getting some movements from baby now, but nothing i'd consider as really strong - more like wiggles or them turning over a bit.

I've got my GTT test a week on Wednesday - not looking forward to that fasting before etc but needs must. I had it done last time.

OH works 4 days, whereas I work full time so on his one day off, as he has no Zac as he's at preschool, I leave him a little list of chores and things that need doing. This week he's going to organise some xmas presents for Zac and also he's got a meeting with HR about this Shared Parental Leave thing. Hoping to get all that finalised ASAP.

Having our pram and car seat that we used with Zac cleaned and steamed in a week or two as well, so that will be like brand new then. Going to store the pram at my parents house once it's been cleaned. I'm getting less bothered that the pram is Teal coloured to be honest, i'm not sure if i'm going to customise things a bit girlier or not.

I've not bought anything else for baby - I don't think I really need to. I've already had lots of clothes given to me by our families, plus everyone seems to be knitting something so plenty of warm layers there. I'm going to try to hold out for anything else until the January sales.

Has anyone thought about names? I think we have a first name for baby, but middle names are tricky!

Also, Zachary had lactose intolerance as a baby until he was just past a year old. He's fine now and can eat dairy etc. However, i'm just wondering what formula to try baby on when they arrive? Zac didn't get on with aptimal at all, but obviously he turned out intolerant in the end. I'm wondering whether to try Hipp Organic or SMA formula this time round?
Well done to all those that Breastfeed, it's just not for me.

Alimy 3rd son was lactose intolerant but took ages to pick up on. My little boy has cows milk allergy, so he doesn't have anything with milk in. I tried all the baby formulas as they do a soya one too now, but ended up on prescription formula. Now he's on the growing up soya milk. Have a look and maybe try the comfort milk first? SMA do them all I think. Then you could try the soya , it's green on the tin, and see how that goes. Oh actually, I've just remembered, SMA do an actual lactose free formula , its a slightly smaller tin. But you may aswel try the normal first and see how baby gets on.

My pram that I have is red but I'm not changing it, I really like it. The car seat that came with it is black, so it's ok. Can always buy a colour snug thing that goes in the car seat. That's what we're going to do.

I'm sorting all the maternity leave next week too. As mine starts at half term, well from 1st Nov. So not long actually! Eek! I've started Xmas shopping, but going to get the rest when I finish work. Want everything done and wrapped by the start of Dec.

Thanks Sugar,

Zac had SMA lactose free formula, luckily we got it on prescription although I did see it for sale in large Boots stores. At least if I have any concerns about baby and lactose, I can always buy a tin of this to try. I'm convinced Zac was allergic to formula more than lactose, as I weaned him on lactose free milk/cheese/yoghurt but once he was just past a year old I moved him over to regular milk/cheese/yog and he's been fine. He has his free regular milk at preschool now without issue! That said, my brother's oldest son [now 5] had same issue as Zac with formula, and even now has to avoid regular milk etc.
The whole formula thing is such a minefield isn't it? I just want to choose one that is soft on baby's tummy as I think that might help.

On the subject of pram, I think if I just used loads of pink/purple/lilac etc blankets people would get the hint the baby inside was a girl haha. Also, if she's tall like her brother, she'll be too long for the seat part by 9/10 months and we'll need to get a stroller/pushchair anyway.

Eek trimester 3!! Getting exciting! We bought a second hand rocking chair the other day, love it! We're also in the process of buying a house.... going to be a busy time coming up to baby arriving!!! Feeling much stronger movements, love watching the belly move when baby kicks!

Eek can't believe baby is viable from tomorrow!!! Slow down time!!!

I knowkaren, crazy! Happy V day for tomorrow! I will be 24 weeks next Monday! :) exciting. X

Baby seems to be celebrating by going bonkers in there today!! Felt it so much and can see huge kicks. Eek! Didn't think it'd be so exciting as been through it all before but it definitely is!!

My baby has been moving and kicking constantly over the last few days. I love it, but concerned I can't keep up with what's his normal. Does it slow up as he gets bigger? I know according to kicks count they like you to keep track x

Carly - I'm getting loads of kicks too. I think they become more regular and develop a pattern as the pregnancy goes on but think it's too early for that yet. I tend to feel movement only when lying or sometimes smaller, less obvious kicks when sitting (obviously due to my position).

Hi alk hope you are well :D

I dont remember counting kicks with my first but would concentrate on kicks if i realised i didn't remember the last time i felt one. Just generally tried to be aware.

Anyone else seem to be getting braxton hicks yet? I think you get them before you can feel them but convinced i can over the last couple of days. Seems normal for me as they were almost constant with my first. I'd spend what felt like full days with a rock solid /tightened tummy so i assumed thats braxton hicks.

Mel I have definitely had some bh today. Don't remember them much from previous pregnancies though.

Haven't had any bh yet that I can tell but baby's moving a ton and getting nice solid kicks now, I think as they run out of room we won't get as fast movements more like slower twisting and pushing rather than jabs idk lol first time for me
