January 2017 mummies! **2nd Trimester.**

Thanks for bump compliments and positive bf stories! :) I've joined that group that you recommended, Sprout.

It's ended up being quite an evening.. shortly after I last posted, the chest pains got a bit worse so OH insisted on calling the midwife and she said to go straight to A&E, so we've just got back from there. They actually took it pretty seriously and saw me quite fast. They did some blood tests, chest xray and I have to go back at 9am for a chest scan as the person wasn't there to do that tonight. They're being cautious because the symptoms are similar to blood clot, but hopefully it's not that. I still have pretty bad intermittent chest pain now, so it is a bit odd. They have given me a shot of blood clot medication, which they said can't pass through placenta so it's completely safe. Fingers crossed they find that I'm all clear tomorrow.

Hope you ladies had a more exciting evening than my sitting in the hospital! Anyone catch GBBO? I missed it! xx

Thanks Rhiandell and Blueflower! :D

I'm getting soo many negative breastfeeding stories recently! It seems like everyone I meet says they weren't able to for one reason or another, or it was just so difficult. Not that I have ANY issue with anyone not doing it, but I was so hoping to be able to, and that it wouldn't be so bad once I got the hang of it. Anyone got any positive stories?

I'm a bit late on the bump bandwagon, but here's a bump picture from today..

Your bump is the size of mine. :) Yes I'm hoping to breastfeed too. I thought it came naturally to the babies, I wonder why so many have problems? I hope it goes well with me because breast milk is much better for babies.

Oh geez Laura, hope everything goes ok this morning!

I watched GBBO, it was quite a funny week. I'm surprised this year at how many of them are so bad at decorating! There's usually a more even mix I think. Made me and my mum chuckle all through tonight though. xxxxx

Oh crikey Laura hope everything is ok hon. X

I caught the end of GBBO I love gingerbread week it's such a disaster lol! I said to hubby last night I'm sure some of the men last night weren't in it last week lol shows how observant I am !

I can't wait for strictly and the Jungle. X

That's what I thought Papermoon but turns out that was a little naive of me, I didn't even buy a single bottle or a steriliser as I thought i'd be breastfeeding. In my case my boobs got too big and my nipples are quite shallow so we simply couldn't get the latch. Some babies are tongue tied and can't latch. There can be loads of complications. My baby went 2 days without feeding properly (unbeknown to me) and lost a lot of weight. Had I been more prepared and had more support I know I could have done it but at the time whilst my baby was starving there was no time for experimantation.. It was incredibly traumatic so make sure you do some research and be prepared for a struggle (not saying there will be one but it happens to even the best intentioned mothers!)

Gosh Laura I hope you're ok darling.. Take it easy, hope the hosp isn't too boring today! xx

Thanks KateK! :) Yes I think I will buy some bottles just in case. I also wonder if it's possible to mix the infant milk you buy from stores with some breast milk using a breast pump in cases where the mom doesn't make enough or if baby can't latch on? Or can the 2 not be mixed? I'm hoping for the best but want to have a back up plan just in case. :)

That's ok, it definitely took me by surprise, i'll be better prepared this time!! I expressed for quite a few weeks to make sure she at least got a few weeks of precious good milk but my supply struggled as she wasn't feeding from me :( I seem to remember that you can mix them, but they recommend feeding any pumped milk first and then topping up with formula if baby is still hungry, to avoid any wastage of the good stuff!! Bit of a faff and extra dirty bottles but nothing more demoralising than pouring breast milk down the sink!! Hope you have no problems, i'm sure you'll be just fine :) xx

Arghhh seriously starting to crack guys! My partner has 180'd and really really wants to find out the sex.. Not sure i'm strong enough to fight it! Waaaah!

Come on over to the dark side...

Noooooo Kate! Our scans are on the same day and I was hoping to have a support buddy! Only kidding - have talked it over and over with DH and we're 100% set on team yellow now :-) Was explaining my reasonings to a friend today and felt really happy about it, so not going to crack. I'm sure it'll be super exciting for you whatever you decide.

Laura how was the hospital? Everything ok I hope?

I'll try girls, I really will!! Doesn't help that his cousin whom we both love dearly just found out the gender of their baby (she's a week behind me!)

I feel really ginormous today, walked into town and hobbled all the way home with hip and butt pain! xx

I feel like we're all getting pretty big now! Jealous of the few of us that aren't heffas yet! They weighed me at the hospital today and I've gained 20 pounds since pre-preg. Ooooops.

I'm fine now, thanks for asking! It's been a long 24 hours because we didn't get home til 2am and then had to be back for more tests at 9 this morning, so not much sleep at all. They did an MRI scan in the end to rule out the possibility of a blood clot, which has now been ruled out. Not such a worry now, as anything else is probably just normal pregnancy aches and pains. I really didn't want to go into hospital in the first place, but the midwife and duty dr on the phone were pretty insistent about it and OH called a taxi before I even got off the phone with them so I didn't have much choice!

Weekend is coming up! Bet you're all looking forward to it. I feel like this week flew by? xx

Glad to hear everything's OK, Laura. Hopefully you'll get some sleep tonight.

WOW guys your bumps are amazing!! I'm going to be so happy when I can finally post a bumpy picture!

Yes that's such a relief Laura! You can catch up on GBBO now :) Yes mega fast week.. It's the magic of the Bank Holiday!

Thanks Sarah, your bump is so perfect!

It won't be long lovely :) I've been taking bump pictures every week from the start and it's so amazing now to look back and see the progression! The babycentre app has a 'bumpie' section where you can post them weekly.. I bet if you did that and analyse them you'd start to notice little changes! Can't wait until your little bump pops out :) xx

Nice bumps ladies! :D Okay I'm gonna try uploading a pic of mine. :)
