Me and my husband both like the name Elise. However, we cannot agree on how to pronounce it!

I like elle-eeze

He prounounces it elle-eese (like the start of Lisa). He thinks to have it pronounced my way we would need to spell it Elize

So if you saw the name Elise written down how would you pronounce it?

i would pronounce it elle-eese if i saw it................lovely name! xx

I would pronounce it same as hubby.

I automatically pronounced it Elle- eese, and I think I If i knew it was supposed to be pronounced like "elle-eeze" I think i would get it wrong after reading the name (if you know what I mean? )

Cute name :)

its pronounced elle-eese i have a friend with that name and she goes mental if people pronounce it elle-eeze lol

Afraid I'm with your hubby too hon!

xxxx

Yep im with hubby. It's a lovely name. My friend who used to be on the forum has a little girl called Elise Bella

I'd pronounce it elle-eeze as that's my cousins daughters name and that's how they pronounce it so I've never heard it the other way. X

I would do it how your hubby does! Sorry :) only cos my mate is called Elisa (El-ee-sa)

If you prefer the 'eeze' ending why not spell it Elize? C

I have voted for the first one as I know a girl called Elise and that's how she pronounces it. I think it's a lovely name!

ofc if u wanted to call her elle-eeze why not call her "Elize" - i checked and its a name :)

ofc she ay end up correcting people, but if u like it then its an option

Agree with your hubby but it's just the same as Sara....Maine pronounce that like Zara with an S & others Sarah. I know 1 of each xx

My best friend is called Elise, and we always pronounced it El-eese, but recently she's started with Eleeze. I really struggle to pronounce it differently but I am trying. Either way, it's a lovely name. x

Can I just say, as an Elise myself, I HATE it when people call me Eleeze!!

It's french, and it's meant to be Eh-lee-ss. Hence Leesey, rather than Leezey!! :)

It's a jolly good name, if I do say so myself!! xx

I would say El-ees,

I will also add in that if I read Elize I would pronounce it El-ize, like Eliza, though that's a simple correction once known x

I know an Elise who pronounces it Elle- eeze x

Elise was on my list but OH wouldn't have it.
