how quick did u get your sure start grant

hi ladies, hope ur all well!
just wandering when some of you received your sure start mat grant? i sent for mines on monday so hoping i get it soon, as the money is much needed with my hubby not having a job and still need to get bubs remaining things!
how long do they take??

i got a letter within a week saying we aren't entitled as although we are on working tax credits its not with a disability. xxx

hi, i sent mine away by recorded delivery on the 26th april and i have still not heard anything back from them but will let you know when i do xx

hmm,i thought i shouldve sent it recorded, but it was to a po box etc and freepost, mines been sent to wembley, does everyone have the same office they send it to?

I think it took 7 days from when I sent the form till the money was in my account.

im really confused with how they work this stuff out, for example my hubby was made redundant so he is currently on jobseekers, i qualify dont i?

yes you have to be on a benefit like imcome support or job seeker to get it before the baby is here

lou you wouldnt of got it because you already have a child

from what ive read, we dont currently qualify but will once baby is here so were going to get the forms and then fill them in once hes arrived will be nice if we do get it then as we'll be able to save some of the money for when hes a bit bigger and needs bigger things

I dont think we will get it now even after baby is here as it states u have to get more than just the family element of tax credits?
Up until the 1st of April everybody with a newborn 1st baby got a baby element on top but this has now been stopped so hence those of use who unfortunately work wont get a penny even though we only have £124 pw coming in which doesnt cover buggar all!
I hate this Government, so much for encouraging people to try & work they just make me feel like quitting!x

If we'd had the baby last year working or not we would have been entitled to an extra £1845, which is the £1225 tax credits baby element, the £500 sure start grant & the £120 health in pregnancy payment.

I know what you mean hun, we are gonna be better off my OH working 16 hours than working full time...its a joke!
