Maternity Allowance and Sure Start Maternity Grant

I dont know what i can get as i have been on the sick for most of my pregnancy and OH works full time. Any ideas?

my maternity allowance is excellent, i got mine backdated about 2mths and had a huge wad of cash in there when i came out of hospital!

im on 97.66 a week and thats for a year!

missac, i'm on supply too. I have no clue what I will get due to the uncertainty of work. OH isn't working either so don't know where he fits in if I claim MA? The jobcentre staff never know anything when I ask. If they can't help then who can?!!!

 

If you 26 weeks in the 66 weeks before you hit 25 weeks pregnant, you can claim MA. A week runs Sunday to Sunday and you only have to have worked one day in theat week to count it. When working out how much yu get, you send your payslips from the 13 weeks you earnt the most.

How come you get it for a year Kay? Mine is 26 weeks

 

Maternity allowance is only for 6 months? You must get SMP Kay from your employer?

EDIT: tell a lie, if your due April 1st 2007 onwards, you get 39 weeks paid MA. Damn, I should of waitied another year to have kids

Yes but Kay has had her baby already???

 

She must get SMP then hun, not maternity allowance.

Yes I have 2 employers my main one is who pays my sick pay but its the local council so it not easy to get hold of them.

I sure everyone can get family allowence. It's £17.50 per week for yout first child.

my form says i get paid 97.66 until 21/07/07? and when i rang them up to make sure they had got it right they said the dates back to me so i knew i wasnt goin mad!!

You'll be able to get it once LO is here though Gemma as thats what i'll be doing, applying once Lo is here, you get three months after baby is born to apply.

Yes, so long as you are receiving Child Tax Credits at the Higher Family Element then you will be eligible to apply for the grant after LO is born.
