HG and NVP thread

Lol I know the smells are pretty awful sometimes! Cool, I know if my work thinks I'm struggling they can ask me to leave sooner. Ideally ide like to go as late as possible to have longer off but can't see myself lasting any longer that 36 weeks.

My sickness is a hell of Alot better now, I still have bad days if I get over tired or run down but nothing like I used to be. I'm still anaemic and am struggling with back ache and headachey. Tbh looking back I have no idea how I went from 7-24 throwing up daily like I was! Hg Is awful and I'm still suffering with the aftermath it's done to my body.
You ladies currently feeling rough have my sympathy! I know how hard it is :-(

Kanga sorry to hear you are feeling so ill today. I agree that if you go and see your gp I think they will make the decision for you. I hope things for you and your OH get easier. My OH has so far been supportive, but sometimes I feel like he is getting a bit annoyed (not sure, maybe it's me being too sensitive). I've been in the bathroom with my head down the loo and now in bed. I feel like the tablets aren't cutting it. I know they don't perform miracles and I am keeping some things down but had hoped to feel a bit better but things seem to be going down a bit again.
These night shifts sound awful, I am lucky I dont have to work nights now but when I was pregnant with Abi I was on my final student placement and had to work 4 nights in a row at 9 weeks pregnant and I wasn't even that ill so I really feel for you! every other Friday I do a 14 hour shift and I think this will have to go and I'll loose the hours as it not safe for me or the people I look after.
Do seem to have taken a liking to water with ice, very refreshing. At least I feel like I'm staying hydrated when I can. xx

Steffy I would ask for different medication, cyclizine didn't even touch the sides for me. I had a combination of domperidone and metoclopromide which worked really well and know a lot if the other ladies have found ondansetron has worked wonders.

Sorry others have also been feeling rubbish. I've been pretty good recently although still have bad days but accepted that's likely to just be the way it is. Xx

I'm going to try to speak to someone tomorrow at the drs if I can get past the receptionist!! The cyclizine has taken the edge off but I still don't think I should be as sick as I was this evening. Yes my scan date is this Monday coming. I looking forward to it but not the 30 mile journey to get there :-( xx

None of these meds did anything at all for me Steffy til I tried ondasentron ... Like jemfox I don't feel as bad as I was up to 14 weeks :/ but defo still having really bad days at nearly half way through !

I do know how you all feel as I was there yesterday!

I hope you can sort out the work with your OH kanga!

The hospital smells are bad; I particularly struggle with checking placentas. I have had to do a runner to be sick
a few times.jemfox, worrying about the swine flu, hope they don't make you go anywhere near it.
I think I will go on mat leave at 36 weeks too but with 2 weeks hols before so effectively leaving at 34 weeks. Emily arrived at 36 weeks so hoping I go to term with this one and that I have a few weeks off to get ready for new arrival !

Got a doctors appointment at 11.40. Hoping I can try something else. have kept water down this morning but the thought of food just makes me feel awful plus don't want to eat and be sick and loose the water I've had. Hope you girls have a good day xxx

Aw hope your GP appt goes well and great you managed to keep some water down, it is such an accomplishment :) x

Steffy, I've had to try 3 different types of tablet this time to find one that works, keep pestering your doctor until they listen to you. Hope the appt goes well later.

Had a quick chat with DH last night about not feeling well and I think he is understanding a little bit. Don't think I'm going to change his mind about staying off work longer but I need to think of me, baby and Harry first rather than struggling through work too. So he is resigned to the fact if I don't feel ready then I'm going to take more time off, going to phone up doctor tomorrow and see how I feel then.

Feeling a bit sicky this morning and have no motivation or energy to move off the sofa. Usually meet up with my friend on a Thursday but not sure if I'm going to go as don't think I'm great company at the mo and can't really complain about anything pregnancy wise to her as she is waiting to do iui with a sperm donor and would do anything to be in my position xx

Hiya,

How did docs go steffy?

Glad u spoke to ur oh kanga.

I'm on my break atm at work, not feeling well atall today! Mummymidwife I've been told if I need to take blood from someone with swine flu then so be it! So I'm avoiding them wards! Oh god placenta would make me chuck up too. I went into a room with cdiff the other day and my god I thought I was going to pass out.

Not sure I'm Guna be able to keep this up. But feel like a piss take if I get signed off again!

Xx

Kanga I am so glad you had a talk to your oh and that he was more sympathetic... I am glad you are considering what is best for you, baby and Harry, that is very sensible IMO :)

That's not good and putting you at risk doesn't sound like a good decision from your manager, I hope they have done a risk assessment? If people aren't understanding of me at work I will gladly take time off again and if last shift is going to repeat itself I so will, as not good for me in any accounts to go from midnight to 8:40 am without a single break, not having it but when you are there you are obliged to look after the woman so you can't exactly say to her stop pushing because I need a drink lol
The same for you I would imagine, so if they are not looking after you I would say don't think twice about time off if you need to ;)

I am dreading dreading dreading the weekend and now I have another cold with sore throat etc :(
X

Hi Steffy how did docs go? Kanga glad ur hubby is being more supportive now. Take the time u need to get better. Jemfox that doesn't sound good at all. Can u refuse to do it? Mummymidwife sorry to hear u have a cold this pregnancy hasn't been nice to u has it?! I'm not good today either have the worst headache and not got out of bed! When will it end?! Xxx

I did say I won't be doing it but in response I got "nurses have to do it"
Yeah I had a risk assessment and been agreed if needed I get extra breaks but when ur swamped with work I wouldn't have the guts to walk out for a extra break leaving every one else with loads to do. Occupational health recommended I do a phased return but my manager has refused sayin I'm either back full time or not atall.

:-(

Xx

Hi girls, drs was ok. Saw the new registrar and she was lovely but running 45 mins late :-( She has given me a months worth of cyclizine and metoclopramide 10mg 3 times a day to try. She said if they aren't effective then it will have to be something stronger but she would rather work up. I'm prepared to try anything so will see how this goes. Hoping to have something to eat as came home from drs and have slept this afternoon. Abi is at nursery tomo so OH can go back to work and will be off at the weekend xx

Yes keep trying. This pregnancy hasn't been kind to me at all :( I hope your headache has settled .

That's shocking jemfox, can't believe they would do that!

I am shattered as had a bout of painful contractions last night quite regular for about an hr. I had the same when I was pregnant with Emily starting at 20 weeks too. So just dropped kids at school and will go off to bed for a couple of hrs.

Xxx

Decided to go straight for phased return this week and I am doing one night shift Monday night and then if it goes well I'm doing two shifts the week after and then back up to my 3 shifts the week after. It's scary thinking about going back to work and I'm really nervous but I can't keep putting it off xx

That's good kanga! Hope it goes we'll keep us updated. How is everyone doing today? Xx

Hiya. Not to bad, this week hasn't been a good one! First week back at work full time and struggling! How are you?

Xxx

Sorry to hear that jemfox. R u still getting sick or just exhausted from it all? I'm ok still good and bad days tho. I find my tummy constantly hurts or feels unsettled from all the sickness. Did u get upto anything nice over weekend or just chilled?xxx
