Here's one to ponder over

If your surname was Bond and you had a boy would you call it James? Or anything being with a J if was a girl?

Hmmm no I wouldnt call my son James if my last name was bond and even as a middle name unless he had two middles names and James was the first one for example Jacobs name is Jacob David James Todd, Jacob David James Bond would just be a no go

Yay! Someone agrees. Although it kinda sucks that any name beginning with J is out. I quite like Jasper. But no way, the poor kid would go through life with everything think the J stood for James.

My OH is called Stephen (Steve) Davis (80's snooker player) and my brother's name is Emlyn Hughes (80's Liverpool footie player)!

They both love having 'famous' names! Having said that James Bond would be a bit too much! lol

I wouldn't, because later in life, if they ever had to give their name to the police [god forbid!] then they'd just think they were taking the piss.
They'd be dismissed for a lot of things, and people would make fun.
I think James Bond is just a no-go area, to be honest.

I wouldn't call him James but I wouldn't avoid J names. My OH knows a guy called Joe King and went to school with a Robert Robertson!!! x x

Thanks for your input ladies. Some of peoples' names are crazy. Robert Robertson! Crazy.

I just worry that if we have a boy and go for a J name that people will contstantly ask if the J stands for James.

My hubby's name begins with C and he always gets asked why he isnt called James. His response "for the reasons you want me to be called James" lol

Will put some more thought into it when I am a bit further along.

My husband is called James Brown so people occasionally have a crack but it is one of those things that people realise as soon as they said it how much of an idiot they have just made of themsevles for saying something that is sooooooooo obvious

I wouldn't call my own child after someone famous - fictional or real - but with my husband there really isn't any consquences. I really like the name James.

We even play a game to try and spot the people that are going to mention his name - you can spot them a mile off
