O/H and I have always said if it's a girl we'll call her Alethea (it means "truth" and can be shortened to Ally as a 'pet' name) and if it's a boy we'll call him Zach (Zachary in full, but we'd probably always shorten it). What do you guys think?

By the way the surname is Kashouli (it's a Greek-Cypriot surname).

I like Zach :) Am not sure about Alethea, its not that I dislike it, more because its not an English language name (apologies if it is, I've never heard of it before). I think it just takes me some getting used to hearing and saying it before it feels natural.

What matters is if you both like it and think its a good name for you LO at the end of the day though :)

I agree with Sherlock and Jo; I really like Zach but I'm not overwhelmed with Alethea...

Alethea's a Greek name, which is partly why we picked it. She'd most likely be called "Ally" most of the time if that's what we were to call her! :) We're still open to many suggestions though, thanks for the feedback! :)

i like Alethea, one of my fav books at the moment has a character with that name (The exploits of Miss Alethea Darcy by Elizabeth Aston).

Also like Zach, it is on our short list too.

I think they are very cool names 8)

One little thought. I had a really bad lisp until I was about 10 so I've disregarded names that would come out wrong with a lisp. Alethea could sound to some people like Alicia said with a lisp. This is my own weird obsession though so feel free to ignore it as I really like the name!

OMG I just thought that too! It's weird because I actually like it! I just said it out loud and it sounded like Alicia but with a lisp... I still like it though! x

Ooooo Alethea is lovely... Zach is a bit... well... common... :( (you'll always find people who will like or dislike a name) but guaranteed your lil Ally will be the only Alethea in the school :) Rather than one of 100 Zach's..

I don't like more common names like Chloe, Ella, Ryan yadda yadda yadda...not because they are not nice, but because they are common in their usage in the English language... I like the unusal...and it is said that people with unusual names fair better in life... :)

I have an old schoolfriend called Alethea, and she was the only one at school!

It's a beautiful name.

Sherlock - My mate's as British as fish 'n' chips. The name certainly sounds less exotic in a broad Brummie accent!!

I like Zac and it was on our shortlist, was knocked off purely on a popularity basis. But if you dont mind the Top 50 stuff, go for it :D

I like both names as far as unusualness is concerned, i dont think zach is overcommon, i dont knwo any zachs, the name Zach only really reminds me of that one from saved by the bell :S Ally's very cute !

I really like Alethea, very pretty and unusual. I've certainly never heard of it before. That has my vote as a girl's name
You can call her Thea for short or Ally.
