I find it really hard to decide on my children's name as you all will know :eh:
I kind of find one, fall in love with it then stick to it. So this time round my husband and I decided on Millie for a girl.
Last night we went to my husbands grandma's 90 th house party were a few family members were going, My husbands cousin (who he has not seen for ages) was there and her 3 year old daughter is called Millie  she is also pregnant at the same stage as me so we will probably be at the same pram clubs etc so I can not have her daughters name as the whole family will think we chose it after we met Millie.
Totally gutted!! Girl name hunt is back on :wall2:

What about lengthening it to Amelia? X

My eldest daughter is called Amelia lol
The main problem I have is that I have two children in school so I know all thier class names and then I ve got family names already took so not many names left to choose from. It was fine with my first child as I didn't know any children now I know loads :wall2:

My oldest has the same name as her dad's cousin! If you like it, go for it xz

Until this family party you didn't even know this little Milly existed?

So it's not a given that you will end up socialising with OH's cousin that you just met?

xxxxxxxxxx

Yeah what about Emily? I get called Millie all the time xx you could have it as a nickname? Xx

I would say that as you didnt even know this 3 year old existed until the other day to can still use the name. It would only be a problem for me if it were the name of a close family member/friend.
Let's face it, there is always going to be someone in the world with the same name, having a totally unique name is juts impossible :oooo:

My husband was told told her name but totall forgot ( men) there are only a few baby p,aces to go we're I live so we probably will end up at the same places but I still love the name so unless we come up with something different who knows lol

WSS.

I'd still use it if I'm honest. Let's be honest she's three and you didn't know she existed so hardly a close relative! If u love it go for it not worth upsetting yourself over! :) gorgeous name too

I know how you feel. I always said I would use my granny's name if I had a little girl, but my step brothers new family already have a grace. I'm having it as her second name only cause it would have been too odd for 2 of the same names. Not that the mummy would have minded I'm sure, just didn't feel right. So I'm calling my girl daisy grace. Xxx

I'd still use it too, especially if you don't have much interaction with her. :) x

Meh, just use it.

I would get word to them that you are going to use the name too just so they have that information too. That would only be fair.

If someone knowingly used the same name as me, I'd probably be more pissed that they didn't give me opportunity to change it if I wanted to.

I really loved the name Evelyn, still do I suppose, but one of my relatives used it and I was a bit bummed. Then at my wedding I saw the little girl and was chatting to my relative and mentioned that I really loved the name and was a bit gutted and he just laughed and asked why wouldn't I use it if I loved it just because they did.

I couldn't answer :oooo:

xx

I would still use the name you like also. The name we have picked for a boy is the same as oh's sisters sons name, but we love it and are probably still going to go with it although we dont see them regularly at all. x

There are lots of Millies , if you like it go for it.... but like Lou said , let them know.

other options if your avoiding Millie - Have you thought about Tilly, it's one I like and has the same sound.. or Connie or Bonnie ...

Just had a look at my old baby names list on my laptop, and there is Romilly under the girls section!! any good, pretty , but different to Millie

If you do happen to see her again, you could always mention that this was the name you had decided on for your baby and what a coincidence it was the same name as her daughter. You could make a joke out of it - great minds think alike!
