so on tuesday 1st january i got a cough a nasty chesty cough and everytime i did i wet myself. tbh i put it down to pee hence my thread in third trim about it. carried on with everything made a joke about it with OH and so on. however weds 2nd (35weeks) i lost quite a bit of water each coughafter lying down. so was in bed and xoough and it was pouting outta me....well it felt like it) .

i got oh to look whilst i was xoughing and he said it was 100% not wee so off i toodled to triage. i went by myself as it was about 11.30ish at night and didnt wanna drag j out of bed for me to be told to come homeas it was discharge or something.

got strapped to the monitor to check lil man and it couldnt find it. so we tried lots of differenr positions. back both side and occasionally it would pick up but vert low 58 bpm....so the mw setting it all up loitered around. eventually she left but hthe heart monitoe atoppes again. ans didnt turn on so i.calles her and she tried everything but the only hb she coild find waa 50 bom. she turned to me and said "sophie i have to press the emergency hutton and its going to go crazy". she did and it did. they rushed me to a delivery suite all the while trying to find his heart beat. they told me he had to come.out tonight so i called oh and told him to get in. he calles his dad who lives thenorher side od the m25 to us and i called caroline Js childminder to sit in the house woth j jntil.paul arrived.

keamwhile thy are doing ultrasoinds to manually count each beat etc etx, internal ezams' the works. i had also signed a sectionnconsent form and had all my jewellry civered.

they kept rrting to decide if i should be spinal or geneeal.ans wenr for ga as anyrjinf xoild happen during the time the spinal was being done.

ran to theatre where theynsis ebweything ezxept cut me before i was put under.

next thing i know im waking yp. g neeses extta helps brrathing but is off the momitor now. is a tad jaundixe so has had phitosensiticirt thing. they think is low hb whixh has remained around 70 coil be due to just him being him. hioefillt hell ho from nicu to sbu tomorrow.

the mws and drs keep telling me had i left it mixh longer or had my 'waters' not gonethen it would be a very different atoet.

Wow. You've been so incredibly lucky your little boy really needed to be born. Massive congrats!!! My lo was born at 34+5 and he is doing fantastic. These premmie boys are naughty!!!!

i know!! when hes off the nasal tube hell be with be. im so excited. in a room now with all women who are childless mothers whcih is really nice because the worsy thing was seeing all the babies and the mothers and the visitors to it.

gonna.go see him soon. well gotta wait for oh to get here so he can wheel me down and we can stay as LONG as i want with him. im gonna hold him.... xx

i went by myself as it was about 11.30ish at night as i didnt wanna drag j out of bed for me to be told to come home as it was discharge or something.

got strapped to the monitor to check lil man heart beat and they couldnt find it. so we tried lots of different positions. back both side and occasionally it would pick up but very low at 58 bpm....so the mw tending to me loitered around listening. eventually she left but the heart monitor stopped again and didnt turn up again so i called her and she tried everything but the only hb she could find was 50 bpm and it kept disappearing.

she turned to me and said "sophie i have to press the emergency button and its going to go crazy". she did and it did. they rushed me to a delivery suite all the while trying to find his heart beat (she was pressing the monitor on me) they told me he had to come out tonight so i called oh and told him to get in. At one point they even got a n ultrasound machine out and physically watched his heart slowly beating and stopping. They were shoving canulas in me with antibiotics, doing internals to check my waters, an ultrasound AND using the fetal trace monitor to keep an eye on him. OH called his dad who lives the other side ofthe m25 to us and i called caroline Js childminder to sit in the house with J until FIL arrived.

Meamwhile thy are doing ultrasounds to manually count each beat etc etx, internal ezams' the works. i had also signed a section consent form and had all my jewellery covered, my bra and underwear off and gown on.

They couldnt decide whether to do a spinal or a general but decided that the 15 minutes it would take the spinal to work he might not make it so general it was. They did all the prep for it whilst i was awake, so did my stomach in iodine and put the catheter in. A nurse also had to poush on my throat a little bit apparently its standard to stop your stomach contents coming up when your under.

next thing i know im waking up. g needs helps breathing and is on CPAP. is a tad jaundice so has had phototherapy thing. they think is low hb which has remained around 70 bpm could be due to just him being him.hopefully hell go from NICU to HDU tomorrow to SCBU.

Turns out my waters hadnt gone and my body needed to get me to hosp and that for 4 minutes after he was born he didnt breathe himself at all so we are so very very lucky.

Hes doing ok. Cows milk allergy and reflux so we have somengood days and some bad days but hes a trooper x

Aw shame! We have today just figured out that Spencer has reflux how did you find out about the cows milk allergy? I drink a lot of milk and am breast feeding so I'm worried it's that as well x

Well we were aware he might anyway as ds1 had an intolerance to it. But the symptoms are stuff like horrendous poo ...couod be constipated or loose, screaming after and during feeds, gassy, sick a lot. And we tried reflux meds and didnt work until we used a properly hypoallergenic formula. Tbh its a lot of guess work. If you think he has then stop all dairy (beware of hidden milk) and try not to use much soya as well xx its a minefield but stay stromg xx
